Having 5 stud hubs thats either the V6 or Turbo. If alot of that bodywork is metal, he'll need the turbo to get it moving. rolleyes.
The guy is obviously very talented none the less.

If the kits were being sold to customers then, yes, I'd agree. But if it is one-off personal creation then I disagree, Martin.
True enough.

Nice to see you on here Craig - how're things?

As a piece of craftmanship, that is damned impressive, whatever you think of the motives.

Personally, if you are going to do something like this, do it well. That appears to be what he has done.

Fakery is so piontless, however you have to admit the guy has tallent, now if he had spent that time making the standard vauxhall turbs or v6 go better he may have had a more satisfying car to drive. All that glass fibre is gonna be heavy. still guess in his home land this may look like the mutts

Bad enough that I can't afford a real Aston with spare change but good enough that I don't fancy a replica wink Hope you are still enjoying your NSX smile

Toparks for effort. But not really my sort of thing. Personally would rather just have a regular Calibra than this.

That looks superb ... to take a standard production motor and transform it into a look-a-like .. Guy gets my admiration. Its not a dog of a bodykit, its been shaped and blended right. Ok so its not the real thing .. Who cares ... its not a TR40 or a Mr2 355 where you can clearly see the difference ... its got the shape, its got the curves and I dare say you would ave to look twice when its finished .. and someone will have a very cheap copy

Its like some watches ... Yes I have a few origional ones because I can afford them. If I couldnt and the copy was good enough ... would I .... Hell yes !!

That really is a good effort.
Questions of why really miss the point. We all do things for personal reasons, try not to judge people actions so much.
Even if it wouldn't convince everyone, the guy has got real talent, and dedication to do it. The end result is a damn good looking car.

I don't really understand why, but have a lot of admiration for someone who can do that. If only they knew a designer and could come up with something original instead. The other trouble is that at the end of the day it is still a Vauxhall Cavalier in drag in drag.
in thailand import tax etc would make a second hand Aston that would sell for around £20K ish in the UK cost over £100K once imported

cheers
Thanks, but not quite what I meant. I just don't understand the appeal of something which looks like an Aston but is actually a cavalier.

Certainly is. smile

To be honest, I don't get the hatred - It looks a pretty professional 'homage' car to me - No-one will be fooled (well few), but it's better than a chaved up Calibra any day.

As the PH article says, we can't all afford an Aston (or the running costs) or even a BMW M5 and, whatever you might think of its handling, the Calibra was always a comfortable car, capable of covering long distances (pretty) fast, comfortably and economically and was pretty practical too (probably a lot more than the DB9) - well, except when it broke down (mine was probably the least reliable car I've owned).

Good luck to whoever made this - nice work.

M.
