I think: 'butch Citroen' would be a good proposition.
Would that be with the Beret worn a-la Fred Scuttle?

Something RWD would be nice.
Not from Saab!

Saab have never made a RWD car.
If you've experienced a Swedish winter or indeed this UK winter you'll know why.

Nice, but its FWD even if it looks like an old school RWD sports car. As a previous poster pointed out SAAB never made a RWD car, they even went to coil springs very early on as they deduced that torsion bars can cause dynamic instability.

I would like to see them go way back to the 2 stroke cars for inspiration and produce something super light, super aerodynamic and very high fuel economy for these new eco obsessed times we find ourselves in. Something along these lines priced at a premium would definitely sell in the coming years, they wouldn't even have to go to far for a suitable engine, perhaps one of these;

Trying to chase the German brands was always a bad move for SAAB that sadly they started themselves back in the 80's, GM only compounded this mistake by thinking (wrongly) that there was a market for something cheaper/poorer quality then the Germans.

Fantastic news, let's just hope they go back to the innovation & individuality that made them famous.

BTW the old 2-stroke van in the image (280 YBH), used to be my dad's company car at a SAAB dealership in Manchester in the late 60's.
Thread resurrection time smile

I originally rescued the 95 van from behind the dealership in Hazel Grove, c1990/91, and owned it for a few years before swapping it for a 30s Vauxhall. It re-emerged a few years later in the condition shown earlier in this thread. Which garage did your dad work at? Andersons?

cheers, RJ
