RE: PH Heroes: Datsun 240Z
Discussion
One of my favourite Japanese cars. I would love to own one of these at some point. They just look so right.
Some lovely piccies and links posted up, though I have to admit, I don't really like the 'rat' 240Z that was linked to earlier, it just doesn't do it for me.
However the pictures of the car with the 3.1 engine, Webbers, bucket seats and roll cage is perfect!

Charlie-Boy, that's a great pair of Z's. Who did the work on the white car. Let me know if you're ever looking to sell.
I'm a veteran of Z's, well three. 240Z with a 2.8 on Webers, Immaculte nut and bolt 260Z on Webers and this little demon, 240Z fitted out with TVR V8, Cosworth box and RS200 slippy diff and erm not a lot of exhaust silencing:

Hi I bought the cars when I lived down in Melbourne. The silver car was done in about seven months undergoing a full bare metal restoration, although there was no rust on the car. I thought it sensible as I knew I would return back to the UK so best to get them rust proofed as best I could. The white car has taken about three years to be completed, the project sort of developed into a bit of a beast and took a lot research and planning to complete. I had to track down the best people I could find and the best components to do the job so there is no one person who did the car it was a combination of many. I also had to do a lot of work myself and project manage it as I was the only one who could visualise how it should be when finished. Almost every component has been up-rated from the custom made propshaft by the supplier to the Ford V8 supercar series to the six point cage done buy the guy’s who fit out the Holden V8 supercars. The head was built in Japan with the short block being done in OZ the car was dynoed at 322bhp 260ft/lb though I hope that a new manifold will add 10-15bhp to that. If you have a great interest to see the car then you are welcome to pop over and take a look around, although it isn’t for sale. Couple of pictures of the head. The carbs are 50mm Solex rather than Weber.

Great read and a great car. The old man has a Samuri, one of Spike Andersons original conversions. Blue and silver. Can't be more than a handful left. Was recently in banzai, for the Scottish Z run.
Beautiful.
Ali, georgeous photos, I thought Samuri's where all brown and orange though??Beautiful.
Still its a stunner, let me know if the old man ever wants to sell it....;)

These cars have been ruined for me as I see them in pitiful condition driven by immigrants all the time.
Bloody immigrants- all immigrants in America should be made to leave and only the indiginous population should remain AUDIHenry said:

"Still, at least the article doesn't mention the dreaded 'Count' Albrecht Goertz... "
I had believed he designed the basic shape, is this not so?

Wiki says he did the BMW 507 and Toyota 2000GT now that I look, so not bad work then. Just wondered why he was mentioned at all.
[more hoogle-google]
Ah, more than one site has him down as the designer, that'll explain why he popped up then. It appears he was involved at some stage anyway.
Just musing.
