hehe See my previous article on the 944. They have always looked after me when I own a Porsche, they looked after my Boxster S years ago and I've stuck with them since then.

Jeez, first Kentish, then 300, and now Gridl0k! I'm not sure what you've got Paul, but I'd bottle it and start selling it to women! biggrin

On second thoughts, looking at that list of people...maybe not!

hmmmmmm, interesting reading.
I'm currently considering a VX220, S2000 or Chimaera.
Edging towards the TVR now....

Slightly personal question

How long are your legs? I'm 34-35ish on the inside leg and the 944 is just way too small for me, or the one that I tried was. In C&SC you looked like a fairly lanky chap, has you 944 been changed in any way?
Nope, it's a standard car and I'm only 5ft 11. Jeans are usually a 34 leg if that helps? It was the photo that made me look tall (and a little odd) hehe
Ah, damn. Guess that means I'm on for a 928 if I want a poppy up lighty Porsche. Odd for the Germans to make a car with no sodding leg room

Reading the TVR part, I notice you visited Leics over Christmas and saw relatives.

You don't happen to be related to a John Garlick who lives in Leics do you? He's a chap I know through work, and the surname is quite unusual.

PM me if you like, should you not want your personal business plastered all over the internet!

I'm afraid not, but with a name like ours we must be related somewhere along the line.

How long until Kentish appears for some weird Paul-related worship and fellatio?

Nice stable sir!
Not sure how you manage that sort of mpg in the Chimaera mind, I only ever got 20mpg.
If parking becomes a problem, I would be happy to assist.......
I see 20's more often than not while stuck in town, but at a steady 75 on the motorway it was surprisingly frugal....but it did take the patience of a saint to maintain that speed.
my 4ltr chim was the most economical car i've every had !!!! I used to average 26 mpg. my current diesel td5 disco struggles to do 24...

mind you i've always found my driving style suits V8's and nothing else... I used to get 20mph out of my v8 manual rangy and 3.9 disco

The tuscan however with its 5ltr rv8 manages a litre per minute...

Paul - to sort the headlights, when you get a little more spare cash get the Lupo headlight conversion done. It requires a little cutting of the light surrounds so may be worth getting a bodyshop to do but the VW lupo light units are almost identical in looks to the Chims so you don't lose the classic shape. Do a search in the Chim forums for Lupo lisghts for more info.

Good choice of cars sir! My current fleet is a Land Rover Discovery TD5 (heavily modified) as the daily driver and a Porsche 968 CS. I used to have a 1985 RR V8 which is probably still the favourite car/truck that I've owned. Being able to sit in your leather and walnut mobile drawing room, whilst float over speed bumps and lesser drivers is quite a nice feeling smile Then some reliable German porky fun for when you feel the need for speed! The TVR I understand as well, personally I would have a Cerbera though smilesmile

British 4x4 and a German Porker, classic combination!

I'm 6ft 2 and a 968 was perfectly fine for me. No adjustable height steering column did mean I was rubbing my thighs while steering but hey, a Porsche is for pleasure :-)

Love the line up Garlick, quite tempted by a Range but thinking about the one after in auto and dark blue but it's got to be a V8. All diesels sound like tractors.

Drop the boot catch further dow nand it will release when you press the buttom, more force from the seals popping it up . 2 min job.
Also use rainx on the screen you don't need the wipers then !!.

I have had the boot fixed now, but cheers for the tip! Rainex is a great idea, I'll definitely do that.
I spent 4 years moaning about the wipers being hopeless, then I fitted the leven wiper kit. One of the best investments I ever made , wipers are now perfect.

If you do nothing else here are my 3 recommendations:

1. Leven wiper kit

2. Steve Heath rose jointed drop links

3. ACT smooth bore induction pipe

None of these are expensive and they each deliver a significant measureable improvement.

Nice TVR, Sorry to go a little o/t but what happened to the RS2?

Last i read it was the greatest thing you had ever bought? I'm presuming it's sold but any particular reason?

Nice stable!

We're only one car apart. I have a 98 Starmist Green Chimaera and 94 RR Classic. The third is a 99 Jag XJR. Between the three of them you have the perfect car for any given occasion (we're slightly limited in needing back seats for the kids - before that the third car was a run-off XJS). My favourite is undoubtedly the classic however - looks good anywhere and does exactly what it says on the tin. Mind you, it makes the XJR look frugal on a long run...
