Sorry, I know this comes on the heels of another vRS thread, but this is a different car.

Thinking seriously about buying one the these brand new. Some fantastic offers at the moment (no VAT + more discount). I drove one last week, it was very good, and that is coming from a Mercedes/BMW driver, oh, and I am not a badge snob!. I am seriously tempted as I need a reliable, economical, comfortable, sporty car for my needs over the next two years. The car seems to be high quality on the build front and looks fantastic in vRS trim, the engine is very willing and the kit is pretty good. Can't think of anything else that represents such decent value - £16K with discounts. Thoughts? I love them in white!

Great cars, I've had two preface lift ones, the petrol model is far better though.

eta

they use the VW satnav which I prefer over the Audi one.

Suppose that has it's advantages! White just looks great (and its even cheaper!)!

My old man has the 2.0 TFSI petrol and its a superb car, well specced, massively practical (the boot is bigger than my Volvo estate's), beautifully put together, comfy -

His is the pre-facelift model and I can't help thinking they've really ruined the looks of the latest model I'm not keen on the rounded looks and I think the old alloys are far nicer - the older car has far more street presence:

Old

New

Interesting, I much prefer the facelift model by a mile. It looks so much better than the pre facelift in my humble opinion. The headlights really seem to suit the shape.

Ive been looking at them too. Drive the deal has them at that price brand new, so they are good value. They are interest free too at the moment.
I bought a Fabia VRS brand new 5 years ago and was very impressed. The octavia is a lot better finished.
Definatly worth a lookdriving

they're supposed to be rather good and every time I see one I assume they're the Old Bill.

I doubt you'd get cut up much in one!

Good choice I reckon!

I tried to buy one. Went in and left salesman in no doubt I was ready to buy. Absolutely no deal offered at all. Derisory p/x and not a penny discount. That, combined with the barmy decision not to offer a MFSW unless you buy the DSG, sealed it. I really wanted one. That salesman put me off owning the brand completely. (Still like them though)

Skoda's dealer network is shocking. Check out briskoda forums. There's a few good dealers out there, and folks travel hundreds of miles to use them.

Get the petrol one - much nicer to drive and still pretty good on fuel.

Perhaps you weren't as clear as you thought? What's MFSW and DSG mean?

I like them a lot. You get all the expensive interior bits from a Golf dash, but in a huge and stylish car. If I needed to munch miles daily I'd definitely be after an Octavia or even the Superb (and I would choose one over a 3/5 series or an Audi). The rear styling of the Octavia is nicer though.

Personally I'd want 50mpg at 85-90mph, not sure if these cars can quite hit that yet.

They're not really any bigger than a Golf where it matters though, are they...

The boot is (because the Golf doesn't have one), but otherwise they're the same between the wheels as a Golf, unless the Mk2 is very different to the Mk1.

Rear legroom is much better (although the Golf isn't too bad compared to an A4/3 series).

Does anyone know what the delivery time looking like with these? I've found that all VWs/Audi are taking an extraordinary long time to be delivered but if I hand get my hands on one of these sharpish it might fill a gap.

We have the petrol version on order for my wife.

I drove petrol and Diesel back to back. Diesel is great, but petrol is so much more in line with the type of car it is, ie hot hatch.

Down to personal preference I suppose, but cracking cars and amazing discounts on them.
