Ok. Fair point. Maybe it's just me but I can't see petrolheads with deeper wallets going for this. It smacks too much of a techno fest rather than a driver focused car.
It has to be put in context though.

You're a billionaire, so you already have a Rocket, an F1, an Enzo, every Caterham iteration ever made, any Lotus you want. So you have the "driving feel" part of your desire covered in any and every way possible. So what you then seek is something different, something quicker, and something challenging in a different way. And that's where this fits in.

Probably get shot to pieces by the Ferrari brigade but I don't mind saying it:

That looks more like a Jap Street Racer than a Ferrari!

Yep I said it, everything about that body screams Supra/RX-7/Celica..

But that could be a good thing no?

You don't buy this car to drive, well you might every now and again but its more of an investment. Few years down the line the car, if stored at ferrari, will probably sell for more than 1.1M euro's.

I don't anything will get close to this around a circuit, Zonda F club sport-no,911 GT3 RS R-no, Slr 722- no, I'm struggling to think of anything that would even be in the same league

slap a set of trade plates on it and have a bumble round.... would take a VERY sharp eyed officer of the law to tug you.... or one really quick one to catch you!!!

Prefer a Zonda though.....

Certainly not an SLR722 (very different type of car), but the others, and the Zonda R too, and Caparo, are all of it's similar competitors (in a weird sort of way). They're all ultimate expressions of cars for track purposes, so I guess at that level it is all down to which brand tugs your heart strings rather than (strictly) outright pace?

I'd love to be able to look at it from the angle of a billionaire proper hehe

I'm going to get lambasted - but what is the the point of this car?
It isn't a road car.
It isn't a racing car.
You just end up funding Ferrari's Development test programme and pay through the nose for the ahem priviledge.
Pure c*ck swinging IMHO. paperbag
Because you can. Same as the FXX.

Would it be naff to purchase a 'road' 599 and spend muchos pounds on cosmetics making it look as much like the XX as possible?

'Cos that's what I would be tempted to do if I had the money.

Is the FXX still available? either way its twice the price and from the same company,Zonda r I don't think will be as quick due to the intelligent traction control on this, plus when you get on track in a zonda r you don't get Ferrari technical feedback etc...The Zonda could well be a more involving drive but I think this offers something unique.

The capro T1 would probably be quicker, but again the ownership is a different experience.

I mean't the SLR 722 race edition(Am I just imaging that?) any way, yeah I agree with what you saying, I Think a Zonda r costs in and around the same money, I don't know if this is the best of the "hypercar race bred things" but I don't see as being over priced compared to competitors

Ah, remember when Ferraris were sculpted works of art and beauty and didn't look like B&Q radiators?

Kind of reminds me of a Sagaris.

I'll tell you why it leaves me cold.

The technology developed by the likes of Ferrari will filter down to more obtainable sports cars in a few years time. Some things are definitely good, ceramic brakes, monoblock calipers, 130 odd hp/litre NA etc. Other things are very bad IMO nannying electronics, electric power steering.

Do you think F1 was more entertaining when they had traction control and could just plant the throttle mid bend and point it in the right direction.

The inevitable conclusion to this line of development is surely an uncrashable car which sounds like the best thing ever but I believe will be the death knell for the true petrol head.
