Great, now stick that V8 from the M3 into the Z4 for mass production and stick an M badge on it. Get it released for sale ASAP
unfortunatly bmw have stated a few times in the past that the m3 v8 engine will simply not fit in the production z4 body, hence no z4m versions this time.I seem to recall Hartge or the like fitting the e39 M5's V8 into the Z3 back in the '90s! And I think they even did a V12 version!!! The Z3 was roughly half the size of the current Z4, so I'm sure the M3's will fit the current one easily.
Love the look of this. Surprised the cynical types haven't said the lower grille looks like that of a Focus RS yet!
Liking that a lot - right down to the wing (it's a race car, I don't suppose anyone's opinion on how it looks really matters, as long as it keeps the arse on the black stuff at 150pmh)
PH editorial - please make that picture of the week, even better if you can find a picture of the front 3/4

I can't imagine that BMW will make an N/A V8 Z4. They are too busy obsessing over CO2 and mpg figures, which will ultimately result in further iterations of the x35i engine with 6cyl, turbo(es), and silly flappy gearboxes.
I would of course like to be proven wrong however.
That is a shame as I would like to see this car as a Z4 GT3 road version. I would of course like to be proven wrong however.

It's quicker and more expensive than the old Z4M.

The sad reality is that in all likelyhood this Z4 racer will follow into the footsteps of the E86 Z4 racer, which was good, but no match for the Porkers...
But this is the first GT3 spec Z4, so a different kettle of onions to anything that went before. Also didn't the previous Z4s do pretty well, winning Dubai and Silverstone 24 hours and things? Can't remember exactly, but seem to recallThose who pick on the price alone need to understand that customer motorsport cars from manufactuers are dedicated racing machinery whose cost is justified to those who race them for the podium positions. Porsche GT3 RSR also costs in the same ballpark and sells like bread to private teams. We can't compare them with road cars with equal power. There is so much more to these race cars including spares package and factory support.
