Brief Summary on performance by EVO:-
Its 600bhp, 443lb ft twin-turbo V8,1300kg MP4 (dry weight),62mph in sub-3sec and onto 124mph in sub-10sec: the Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo take 10.8, 10.4 and 10.2 respectively. The McLaren will brake from 124mph to standstill in just 5sec, from 60-0mph in less than 30 metres and complete an 11sec quarter mile sprint.

That's quite a low torque figure in comparison with the BHP output especially since it has two blowers, I wonder if it's high revving? Its 600bhp, 443lb ft twin-turbo V8,1300kg MP4 (dry weight),62mph in sub-3sec and onto 124mph in sub-10sec: the Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo take 10.8, 10.4 and 10.2 respectively. How is this car not exciting?!
It is a brand new, bespoke-built sports car from a serious new force in the road car market, built in England?!
Was great to be allowed a window into a little bit of history in the making IMO and thanks to PH for posting it up.
I will never own one but it is massively exciting I would say.

Thanks to PH for hosting this. It was a good presentation but I'm still unimpressed with what they've done. Some of the tech they were talking about was on the F1 and that's now knocking on 20 years old. I hope the next cars will look more exciting.
20 years old?? What exactly is on that car that is 20 years old and it must be on every car around then!? Even if it is derived from the F1 what a claim to be able to make. Cant think of any car better to share DNA with!!The pic of the 458 and the 12-C was Mclaren have a good look at the competition. The Mc engineers were shocked at the build quality of the car, even their prototypes were built to a far higher standard. However they did admit it was a extremely good car to drive.
I enjoyed the presentation and love the car, cant wait till it is released....sadly a fair while to wait.

Chaps I work in Hammersmith, just arrived at the office in a rather jolly mood as to what I just saw. Waiting at the lights on Fulham Palace road, first a matte black MP4-12C went right past me. Then right behind it a Ferrari 458. Funny thing was, the Ferrari also had some Matte black parts along the bottom of the doors and at the front. The two cars were clearly together so most interesting. Mclaren testing the 12C against a 458 in rush hour traffic? In which case, what's with the altered parts on the Fezza? Did they break it earlier or are they experimenting with what can be achieved ultimately on the Ferrari? Very interesting I must say and the Mclaren looked a bit bigger than the Ferrari to my eyes.
I was there too... and unfortunately only had my iPhone... so apologies for the poor quality of the shots..458 was on dealer plates... I'm pretty sure it was press in both cars.
also saw a McLaren F1 GTR (yellow P reg, no shots, as was driving) this evening over on royal hospital road) this evening, circa 9pm

IIRC Redline is 8,500 RPM.

Think they quoted a red line of 8,500rpm in the presentation...
Gold stars for you two for listening in the presentation Top speed in excess of 200MPH 0/100kmh sub 3 secs.
3.8 litre Twin Turbo V8 motor with a flat plane crank.

Did they actually state that "fact"? Sound utterly balls to be. the distance, speed and time don't match at all.
The rate of deceleration isn't linear, though.http://twitpic.com/19b8gn

Cant think of any car better to share DNA with!!Pity that more of the F1 DNA didn't filter down to the 12c. When it was first unveiled, the F1 rewrote the supercar rule book. It was light, innovative and clever to name a few. Apart from the name, very little is shared with the F1.
About the only thing it shares with the original McLaren road car is the rear engined V8 configuration.

Eh - F1 = Mid engined V12 - MP4-12C = Mid engined V8. edit: Also, isn't the roadside assistance feature now done by SMS and not by a modem uplink?

Messing up things... 5 sec from 200km/h-0 yes, 30 meter from 100km-0http://twitpic.com/19b8gn

True. But an enhancement to an existing system rather than something 'new'.ETA.. Mid engined rather than rear engined.

True. But an enhancement to an existing system rather than something 'new'.Would you prefer the driver released a homing pigeon rather than sending a text message?
