Fair enough, just seems such a big uncontrollable variable in the business model if you rely on the weather to do any work, would have though it would be worthwhile the big companies investing in ways to combat it, even if it is a large gazebo or roller shelter off the side of the van.

We've been having rain stop play for as long as Wimbledon has been running!

Auto Windscreens have recently added roller covers on the side of some of their vans, but they're not getting many good reviews (certainly from the guys I've spoken to).

Some customers will have a garage / underground car park / access to a covered area; if not, there's not much you can do other than re-arrange. I find that most customers understand when you explain from the outset.

Not a problem for us smaller independents, nor for our customers wink

Holy thread revival Batman.

Anyone had a chip repaired through Admiral recently? I notice now in the policy schedule it doesn't mention anything about windscreen repair having no excess.

1 Cover for your windscreen

We will pay:

to repair or replace broken glass in your car’s windscreen or windows and any
scratching to the bodywork caused by the broken glass, as long as there has not
been any other loss or damage

2 What is not covered

We will not pay:

any excess shown on your current Policy Schedule
for replacement of the hood/roof structure of a convertible or cabriolet car when
the glass forming part of it is not repairable
for a replacement car
any windscreens or windows not made of glass eg perspex
more than £25 for each glass repair or £50 for each glass replacement, if the repair
or replacement is not arranged via our Glass Repair Helpline
more than the market value of the car at the time of loss (less the excess)

Excess is £70, so I'd basically have to pay for a repair out my own pocket?

When renewing my car insurance earlier this year I spoke to 5 companies and three of them had an excess on windscreen repairs. Seems to have changed in the last couple of years. How many drivers have that excess on their insurance and don't know because they haven't read the relevent part of the policy?

Policies that have renewed or been set up (new policy) with any of the Admiral group insurers from the 1st of september will have a £25 windscreen repair cost and an increase in replacement excess from £70 to £75.

I had my windscreen replaced about a month ago now on my Mondeo.
Heated front windscreen was a £70 excess.
Hahahahaha to the original poster looking to get the insurance company to pay out £2.50. Unbelievable.

£72.50 + vat. So £87.00, Seems there is a surprisingly large amount of company directors who can't add up.

Apologies I only have the one directorship.
I paid £70 all in a month ago with Admiral so it must of changed since he dealt with them.
