I've driven both the 2.8 and 3ltr Z3, both cars had the worst scuttle shake I have ever encountered.

How that amount of body flex is ever acceptable I do not know? Unless you only drive on dead smooth roads or find that there is a way to sort this problem, avoid the Z3 like the plague!
You should try driving the Z3M 3.2 321bhp! yikes

Well I went ot the see the Z3 last night and could not feel much of that power, due to the flexing chassis. The car did look good though, but I think I would get bored driving it all the time that engine is too smooth for it's own good. I am looking at a MK2 Mx5 tonight to compare to the MK1 what is everyone's thoughts on the MK2 over the Mk1?? anyone

Must have had some pretty bad torsional stiffness issues if it was affecting the power nuts

Don't know why everyone slags them off so much, my parents had a 2L six cylinder one which I drove a fair bit and it was fine, it wasn't a razor sharp sports car - but then you shouldn't be buing one if that is your priority.

To me it was a nice comfortable cruiser that made a nice noise and had a lovely smooth engine, if I was to drive a car everyday I would choose one over the MX-5 without a doubt.

I love my mkii, and when my first one was written off I ended up getting another one even though I was considering a MKi instead.
The mkii S has torsen LSD and ABS and there are quite a few around, no more expensive than standard mkii really.

The mki has LOADS more parts and mods available (especially second hand) and some people prefer the pop-up lights. MKiis are generally less rattley, and a bit more comfortable.
Some people reckon the MKi feels a bit more raw and fun, but the mkii is better as a daily driver.

if you are gonna spend that much....

Get a early Boxster!

Great cars. I bought one 10 years ago and never sold it. Just a lovely thing once you put a loud exhaust on it to give the engine some character. My little sister uses it now. I drove it for first time in ages at weekend. I jumped straight out of my F430 Spider and into it and it still felt a lovely lovely thing!

what about this? some clear front lights from an 03 car and side repeaters would make big difference as well

Mine has been amazing! I think I have been really lucky with it... and really unlucky with my 996TT which has cost me over £15k in 20,000miles....

Its done 60k miles on same clutch... 55k miles on same front brake discs?!?!?!?!?!

minor niggles were it recently needed new keys as locking failed. Was few hundred. The rear screen split in 2007 as well.

been just a brilliant car.

I KNOW some cars have had RMS and other engine failures... BUT I really believe if its hasn't gone wrong at 65-70k which is the miles you will be looking at... the engine will be fine!

amazing practical for sportscar (TWO decent sized boots!) superbly balanced chassis, its not that slow... and with a sports exhaust, decat and induction kit it sounds AMAZING! and its a PORSCHE!

I wouldnt even consider the Z3 personally.
