Yeast Lord said: I've been dreaming about this car. How much will it cost when it's finally released? With vette mechanicals it can't be that much can it. The last report was $600k, which converts to £387k at todays rate. It will have to be damn good to command that kind of price, no matter how good it looks. If it really is as quick as they say it is, then it could end up being relatively good value compared to the competition.

I'd be more inclined to like this car if I hadn't read so much about the t t ripping off Viper owners for upgrades, and then completing denying it and cowering when confronted with the fact.

What a stunning piece of kit. Is there an options list? I want the optional parachute on mine.

This chassis was designed for a transverse 4 cylinder engine of 130 to 200 Hp. Now are you seriously going to tell me that its all OK for 700Hp?? The only thing I know for sure is Hennessey won't be the bloke driving it at the limit when it lets go. Good luck prospective owners, you're going to need it!

Not sure about the price, but it is a grown up Elise with a proper V8 soundtrack, what is not to like?

OT: I'd like to see an elise sans body, for an ultra light basic toy. Just the bare alloy tub with a small fly catcher aero screen

Viper said: spinning the wheels, speeding expect a knock on the door soon.. I hope, YOU are not from the fun police, aren't you? A great car, however. I like it a lot.

My version of this would be slightly different and more in keeping with how I believe Colin Chapman would approach development. Same lotus chassis. Lightweight body, ie. plexiglass windows, thinner fibreglass body. 2.8 litre Hartley V8 (the 550bhp version) Quaife sequential box. All up weight of 550KG. Power to weight - circa 1000bhp per ton. Just gotta build it now

Hhhmm from some angles it does look like a stretched limo Exige though Doesn't make a great deal of noise generally. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NBlHc5SBaQ&fea...They didn't like getting out dragged on the Brunters main straight by 2 fat blokes fully grown men in my Noble. Nice to see someone building their dream. It isn't mine though....

everything that needs to be said about this car has probably been mentioned over the various adverts.
But I just simply cannot imagine how it is possible to ever contemplate paying such a price for this ? Taking existing cheap parts and "engineering" them into something new
Lotus exige 30k - V8 20k - bit of chassis tinkering and gearbox lets go crazy and say 50K.... where does the other 250k go ? (obv. I know feck all about building cars - but I could have plenty cheaper that at least build their own engines ?)
If anyone does buy this , please let me know because I have some venom branded magic beans I can sell you at a very reasonable price !

It's a great conversion, but there's no way I would buy a car from John Hennessey given some of the horror stories about him and his company.

Looks great but the panel gaps on the pics from the last time this was on here don't match up with the hypercar price tag.
Also looks like they've not bothered to finish the section around the exhaust and just left a huge hole.

Non UK manufacturers tend to try and make a profit, so will factor in projected unit sales against tooling, marketing, labour, tax, property costs etc. A Ford Mondeo would cost several million if you planned to sell 50 a year and turn a profit.
