Speak to Andy for yourself to find out what he's like and how he does things, but be careful, the lure of the cars is like the Siren song. Once you see, hear and experience them, you're hooked.

I've seen GT3's overtaken on track by two old guy hobbyists in a GD Cobra. Impressive stuff
I've been in the old guys GD Cobra and the factory GD T70 as a passenger on track and on local roads. The T70 is yet another big step up in performance and handling over the Cobra.

Might sound strange, but I thought that both cars were surprisingly (unexpectedly) civilised, considering the performance.

Porches are great, without question. But, there is a big 'however'. They're not as great as the T70, which is so much more fun as a road car that will do big distances and still blat around race tracks.

Yes - I'm saving for one. Why? Because I've compared prices, and whatever price bracket I look at for the T70, I can't find another car in the same or higher price range that will be as quick in the straights, or, round the bends.

It looked like a fun car to drive, but most of the ring traffic is very slow and an eight minute lap is quite a long while for a track car.

That's a serious mark up over purchase price. What not try i guess. If someone buys it, great, buy a turnkey from GD and pocket the diff! If not, still great, got the toy to blat in! wink

the red t70 was built to the highest spec and has a fully forged ls7 (brand new) with a £8k(brand new) late spec porsche box , £5k worth of Kinsler inlet manifold/trumpets, a massive sports exhaust system to get the dbs down to decent levels etc etc. dry sump, twin oil coolers, aps etc etc.
if you went "budget" and fitted a second hand ls1 (1500 quid up) and older g50 box (2k ish) and wet sump plus one oil cooler set up it would work out a lot cheaper if you did ALL the work yourself.
i paid a little extra to get the bodywork prefitted at GD rather than do that bit myself and all the gel coat deflashed and polished, saving hours of compounding and polishing, plus the panel fit is now as good as a turnkey factory car. this added about £1500 to my bill. all told £36k or so for a car capable of 0-100 in about 7secs and with massive brakes/cooling/trackday potential. mine was built to sva spec but hasnt been made road legal yet as its built for trackdays and sprinting. £40k should get you on the road with a very unique very good looking and very capable car! go for it!

I personally think so. I've tried both, one of the guys here has one (admittedly 2 years old now). No disrespect at all to the Ultima cars, they are very good. For me I wanted like for like comparison and I suppose I need to mention that I include things like chassis design and detail in with build costs. I really do not like to let go of my own money very easily ;-)

I think that the T70 is such a good looking from all angles. Personal taste I'd guess

For (what I presume is) a non-professional driver, on a ring run with traffic, in a 600bhp, 900kg car running road tyres with absolutely no electronic drivers aids, it's bloody impressive. I have yet to see anyone other than proper hardcore 'ring regulars break into the 7's in anything, regardless of how powerful or how modern.

Can we have a replica Ferrari 330 P4, 412P or short-tailed 512S next please? lick

one of the guys who used to work for GD also used to work for Ultima and mentioned he thought the GD chassis and set up was better that the Ultima in terms of handling and ride and general quality. nothing personal he just thought it a better engineering solution.

Stop it! Go away! It's April and we're all supposed to be putting our hard earned cash (OK, not so hard earned given the last 10 minutes of t'internet usage) into ISAs so they can earn 0.1% over 3 years (tax free) and worrying about our pension provision. Plus, judging by the video verses my driving ability, I'd have died at least twice in that 10 minutes round the ring.

Hold on - blow cash on car and die in a ball of flame but with a smile on my face, or eak out my last years on a damp cushion in a freezing flat. What's GD's number?

Here's a few more pics for you tuffer higher res

Mine was built around an original 1967 mk3 spyder bodyshell (original chassis converted to hard top in the 80s) space frame chassis alloy uprights AP brakes porsche box 406 SBC on quad 48 webbers @ 500BHP 520Lbs torque 850kgs. It is surprisingly easy to drive on the road (bar the risk of travelling to fast!!!)will pull in any gear with all that torque.
What I really like about the T70 is the reception it gets regardless of age or social standing always positive.
Don't think I could get around the ring quite as quick as the GD!!!
