£95k is a lot of money though. cue the people to compare to cars designed to be more fully fledged sports cars and not GT cars though.

i guess this is aimed at either the V8 vantage or the DB9.

The M6 is certainly not a pretty car, but has a lot of presence. rare too, i've only seen a handful of these since their launch.

what's it like to drive compared to the considerably cheaper and more practical M5?

The write up is excellent, it reads like a man to his wife, every reason that you want the car, and of course need it.

The killer line, as always, YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU!

She may disagree, but what the hell.

Excellent.

Tainted by Bangle, but also has BMW ever made a large good looking saloon/Coupe? I suppose the E9 & it's saloon counterpart were the best, and the E39 was kind of handsome..

BMW engineering, as always, is excellent.

I was just wondering....

Presumably you don't pay for these machines (Garlick's impulse purchases aside) - if you do then I'm becoming a car journalist because the salary is clearly bonkers - do you have to pay for the petrol or do you get a petrol card? Is there some contribution from the manufacturer?

I'd just like a bit of disclosure as to how this all works, it's been bothering me for some time!

I would have thought even fuelling this monster would put some strain on most peoples finances!
The cars are not paid for they are lent, hence they are changing all the time!

You are aware PH is owned by a fairly large company that runs many many fleet cars both exotic and not, I am sure putting fuel through the business is hardly an issue, be it card, or claiming it back each week.

It looks like it has the newer design on the bonnet (creased in the centre). From the sotry it seems you have to pay for that on the 6.

Ladies and Germs, feast your peepers on the new PH test fleet BMW M6. In Black Sapphire Metallic, with Indianapolis Red Full Merino Leather and the Competition package. Ain't she a beauty?
She is many things. A weapon, a sledgehammer, an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of uberschnell, but she ain't no beauty!

I certainly pay for mine, as my bank manager will testify to.

Press cars are normally 'loaned' for an agreed period, but running costs, fuel, consumables and occasionally the insurance costs need to be covered by the magazine/ journalist thereafter.

Bet you guys wanna pop over there and give it a go now biggrin-after a delimit of course

Great car,in my opinion the ugliness is part of the'brutal' appeal in fact about the only car to suit the matt-black wrap treatment. Good video but who needs an M6 when a little red Z4 seems to be glued to the back bumper at 194mph!

Oh how quick you all forget what those bds did to the British Car Manufacturing Industry (such as it was), here's a gentle hint, Cadburys and Kraft.

I still don't let BMW drivers out at junctions.

If only you could get the M6 running gear into an 8 series.

Yes, but the cash you'd have to spend would probably get you a second hand Gallardo or similar, thus negating the point a bit.

Great car when it came out, the M6, not really up to scratch with the competition now though which I suposse is why it's being replaced soon. Will be a good farewell to it if we get some decent driving reports from PH.
