Reading the rest of this thread I think you're teh only one looking for an argument, everyone just likes it hehe
I never passed comment on the Polestar, infact I think it's great. However, it's not a production car and never will be, so lets try comparing apples with apples..... if we on a concept v reality kick, lets ask why Lotus never made the Elise into an underwater vehicle the way that Rinspeed did with the sQuba. Both are equally daft comparissons, even tho' both concepts are fantastically mad smile
Playing Devils advocate "Who knows?"

Bugatti (VAG) made the Veyron which cost the company a huge loss for every one. Who's to say that Volvo won't see this as the ideal way to raise their profile in the sports car or "Cool" market without spending that money on a huge advertising campaign.

Never say never..............

It would be very brave and dare I say it cool for Volvo to do so, however, I think their pockets are a little dry to be able to fund that one. Ford's pockets were empty (hence the RS HAD to make money if it was to get the green light) and I'm not sure how far Geely's reserves run?

However, in an ideal PH world, it WOULD exist and I'd be wondering where to find the wonga to buy one smile

Does anyone else think that this is the sort of thing Ford should have done with the Focus RS??? (Which has the same platform and engine)
yes

Very much so.

And I *need* a Polestar C30.

That is quite literally awesome. I'll have one in that colour if they build it, please.

Despite it "still being a volvo" i think i'd have one if i was given the chance.

380mm brakes, 400bhp, 4WD and looks like that would be more than enough to make me forget the badge.

Maybe, however I'd want one of those volvo's. Along with a Volvo V70R which took part in a Gumball rally (from the book Our Gumball Rally, ISBN(13): 978-0753509920)

Perhaps the first time someone has been able to say that and still hold their head high on this forum!

As for this concept vs the FRS production car - not a specious argument at all...this CAN be made, there's nothing in this concept that isn't productionable, nor even warrantiable (sp?)...it's all off-the-shelf parts, engineering-wise, and fits in the current architecture (platform was designed to take 4wd). All this needs to be put into production is the will to do it by Volvo management...just like Ford decided to put the original Escort Cossie into production, or the Racing Puma, etc. etc...

And they should all be sacked if they don't do it. This car would completely change how they are perceived in the market, and they would steal customers from all sorts of places they had been previously unable to reach. Including me.

Exactly what I was saying wink

this situation is what Audi went through when they launched the A4 Cab and TT. It transformed their brand image overnight.

I'm not sure Volvo can miss this opportunity based on the reaction that it has had on this forum

That is an ASTONISHINGLY tasty car. And I really wouldn't care if it was a Geely.... oh, wait. Nah, I'd still have one.

It's volvo's way of pointing out how silly the RS is and how it shouldn't carry an RS badge.

It's alright, I already have an S40 T5, but I think I may have founds it's replacement.

As for productionising it, I wonder if it would have got as far as concept if Ford were still in charge. As you say the C30/S40/V50 platform already has 4WD in production, with the T5 engine, and Ford warrent the T5 lump to 340bhp in the Focus RS500.

Come on Volvo, you *know* you want to...

I was looking at one of these anyway but will they be in business for selling the concept bodykit?

Yes it would be great to think they will one day take it to full production but unlikely but that front end is very tasty indeed

The old model looked so much better. I test drove a T5 last year, and it BEGGED for 4WD. The amount of torque steer was unbelievable. No idea how the RS manages. This could be such a great car if management wanted it to be

Big BHP headline shocker.

What will it tip the scales at!? Car manufacturers have got wise to the fact that BHP figures sell.

It's interesting that round a track, the new breed of hot hatches with 300 + bhp are only approx 1 second a lap quicker than older 200 bhp hot hatches. Some times, less is more.
