BTCC still fits big wings to FWD cars.
This is so they can have a "vehicle speed dependent chassis balance". Ie at low speed, when you will be in a low gear and exerting a high tractive effort you can set the basic balance to take the majority of the lateral forces on the rear tyres (stiff rear springs + stiff ARB), but as speeds climb, the rear biased aero downforce from a large rear spoiler increases the apparent rear tyre co-efficienct and hence helps to prevent the car getting too unstable.

I'm pretty sure last time i drove a std MG, they were really setup for max track lateral g performance...........

I think it looks outstanding, i would be happy to be seen in it.

I love the way it looks, it's absolutely ridiculous looking and who doesn't want that from a car that can disfigure your face?

I asked the owner why...just why!?! and he said it was because if it was the right way up it hits the air brake.

bow Wow, that's got to be one of the most mental mods on this thread. Not only is it badly modified, but surely it's dangerously modified too?

It's certainly no more ridiculous-looking than an unmodified one. Improvement I reckon.

You think they care? I don't. Ron is probably too busy making sure all the tiles are the right colour

Well, they were pretty pissed off about the Hennessey-tuned 12C, so I can't imagine adding a fixed lift-generating rear wing would please them much!

Didn't it cost £400k though?

It probably did since it was a one off build but imagine it would cost a lot less if it wwnt into production. That said, it will never go into production.

IIRC they did put it into a limited production run of about 20 vehicles. But each unit sold at £400k.

Not sure if they all were, but I think the original 2 were handbuilt by RML from production cars, a lot of work went into the cars to prepare them.

They kept an astonishing amount of the original vehicle after the transplant though.

Seriously overpriced with a daft whale tale and waful plastic colour nonsense but not the worst Trophy I have seen. These cars are actually very quick IF rge HG holds up. Rear engine not well cooled all alloy and crossbolted therefore saving weight but losing torsional strength = a very fragile engine. redface. I know I have had many and still have five K series kit cars. Always interesting when about to start off!! Since decent MX5's can be had for well under £1000 who would take the risk on what could be a bag of nails. The Toyoyta has what the MG needed. Sturdy reliability. The MG'S are best avoided when in this form.
