WANT!!!!!!
if they're not going to sell it, hows about sending them a car to convert it.
if they've spent 130,000 on the development then to buy the bits and bolt them would cost a fair wedge but well worth it and if they can do it to a c30 then why not a focus (they share the same underpinnings don't they?)

130K euros and the development is not yet finished... by the time it is done (more money), there's more wonga to be considered for productionising (is that a word?!) it, then they would need to consider the target market & retail price. Scooby Cossie & FQ400 are the obvious and only genuine competitors, so a £50K target price seems the only realistic estimate. Re-tooling the C30 line to provide the 4WD system or installing it by hand off-the-line would both bring massive overheads, then you still need to factor in all the other bespoke parts. They still have to get over their image and find people willing to spend c.£50K on a Volvo.
It doesn't take long to see why Volvo said it's a non starter! A child with an abacus could work that one out quickly.
And that's the crying shame. For people like us, it's a great concept and it would be good to see Polestar & Volvo working together on stuff liek this, even if it was as an aftermarket conversion type thing.
Unfortunately, such lunacy struggles to wash it's face financially in the current market, which is also what Ford realised. The RS is what it is partly because of such considerations - if it was £50K and 4WD, they'd be criticised for making it too expensive, LOL! Manufacturers can't win either way!!! Maybe Volvo could find that halfway house instead?? Who knows.
