The S60 Volvo the police use would be a strong contendor for me. Either the V8 or T5.

How about a Mk2 Golf with 201bhp & 240ft/lb?

Slightly less sleeperish (only just, take off the cage and NACA ducts) but:

600+bhp...

VXR8 in blue.
Stealthy! yikes

VXR8s are fooking massive, with a huge rear spoiler, massive vents in the wings, 19", or better still, 20" Carlos Fandango alloys, and with the optional 'performance' exhaust, sound like the God of Thunder gargling great whites.

Great car but hardly stealthy biggrin

ps You gonna buy one or not? wink
Everything is relative, I suppose. To me, it looks anonymous and passes as a big Vectra at a swift glance. I'm still pondering. My son wants a Dodge Ram Quadcab...
yikes
On which note, while hardly "stealthy" in a visual sense, would you expect a 6 seater pickup to have an 8.3 litre V10?

The original Fiat Croma Turbo.

Looks like any other three box saloon, o-60 in 6.5. Very old now but used to be great fun pissing on Pug 205 Gt1s etc back in the day

Love the ambitious categorisation of that advert. Belongs in "Other Models" not "Classics", surely??

S80 V8 is a great stealth car. Fantastic engine and good value at the moment, as well.

I think an e39 M5 is pretty Q-car.

Looks unassuming, even slightly out of date, but goes like stink.

Looks like a jap taxi.

You could order it with a supra TT engine. And its RWD.

Toyota put the 1JZ and 2JZ single / twinturbo engines in all kinds of wierd stuff for the japanese domestic market.

My 500bhp Japanese Taxi before it was stickered up

Not quite so stealthy now though!

I've owned a few of these though, proper stealth machines, remove the Aristo badges & fix some GS300 badges on.

My boss has the 3.0 diesel version and pretty much everyone thinks it is a Passat and therefore it does not get a second look.
One person even commented "Nice Golf" to him once!
My thoughts exactly!

...On the stealth thing, not I think it's a Golf LOL.

There was a Rover version too and with American V8s they are relatively cheap to tune (normally with a supercharger). I doubt you'll find a 75 V8 estate though.

The manual 3.0 X Type is fairly fast too and nobody really thinks of them as performance cars.

Plan for my recent Eunos purchase is a supercharger, should see around 170-180 bhp hopefully with a few other bits and bobs. Not bad for something under a ton with a wooden steering wheel and gearknob.
hehe

Mine has 280, it surprises a few people. Quite loud though which gives it away somewhat.

LDV used to build Sherpas with Rover V8s.

I took a look at an ambulance so equipped as I was considering a home-brew camper for towing my Locost.

Still not very fast though.

However, if you could find a wrecked TVR and do a bit of transplanting it could be fun.

I think an old Ford Crown Vic NYC taxi with a Cobra engine in it would be quite fun.
