We did speak to the team regarding moustache related merchandise, branding etc and it wasn't well received!

It seems the days of the moustache (officially at least) are gone frown

I feel that it is a good thing that we have:

A) Got Mansell in LMP1 category.

B) Got a car with the Pistonheads logo on a car looking good.

We all ought to be proud, I know who i'll be chearing on this year!

Just hope the eather holds out!

Utter bks. That's like saying the Porsche 912 is "just a car".

Mansell, OBE:
F1 world champion
CART champion (american's idea of world champion).
The only person ever to hold both titles simultaneously.
On top of that, he was a hero to pretty much every child of the 80's, and an inspration to mustache's accross the world.

shoutGo on Nige!! woohoo

Awesome! A direct link between my dodgy old Alfa and a bad-ass racing car.

Exactly... Mansell was a hero to us kids in the 80's! He was not only respected for his achievements but he was also extremely down to earth and approachable.

I remember his Williams F1 exhibition day at Brands Hatch as if it were yesterday. After his fast demo laps he did a load of doughnuts on the track burning huge amounts of rubber. Then afterwards we went down onto the track itself and around the pits. It was pretty amazing as a little kid standing next to Nige and his Williams cloud9

It's well worth reading his autobiography as well. It's a great story of his personal battles

Nige not good in touring cars? He was great. Overtaking madly or crashing, whichever seemed like more fun. It's not like the Mondeo was competitive, and for anyone (moustache or not) to make a Mondeo interesting takes one hell of a driver.

For me, like many visiting PH, Mansell was a true inspiration in many ways. An average bloke from an average background putting everything on the line (like mortgaging his and his wife's home) for a final attempt at getting attention as a worthy driver. Getting the call (from Chapman) to drive for Lotus from a hospital bed after a near fatal crash. You couldn't make this up and sound believable.

Mansell is a very real living legend and to top it all a really nice bloke with no edge at all.

Tons of nostalgia, of course, formative years and all that. But also historical
fact.

On a good day the fastest, ballsiest driver in the world. There were plenty of very good days...
