Academy car power sounds about right. I think I've heard of other peoples dynoing at a similar level. As for the change revs, you can try changing at 6800 if you want, but I wouldn't bother if your in 3rd. It's totally gutless above 6000 I find!

My guess is the M6 made such good numbers after Greg Mansell gave the engine a spot of "loosening" last Thursday......

Had the Renault on a rolling road after its last service. Was 1bhp off manufactures claims and 11 lb/ft of torque up on the manufacturers claims.

I was a happy bunny smile

Can't say i've noticed that on mine - you'll have to take it for a spin at some point, see what you think...

Horray indeed. I thought the power figures for un-modified 400s usually started with a one?
Indeed - had mine done a few years ago (not SRR) and came out at 206. frown

I'm wondering why mine seems to be producing so much power now? scratchchin

Excellent result on the Chim! biggrin

I also had a result at SRR in my V1 STi Scoob. Supposed to be 250ps new, made 260bhp (if a bit laggy) and was *completely* standard, not bad for a 16yr old car.

Tried a chipped ECU and no different....however since then I detected a leaky up-pipe and fitted a sports cat. So I suspect I will be running slightly higher than that now.....There only one way to know though! nuts

Couple of Points

1) Pauls Chim is the best standard 4L I've ever done, and I've done about 200 of them (thanks for the cheque Paul)

2) The 460/470 I quoted for the M6 was because it was running normal unleaded, On super the V10 almost always does 500bhp.
What a charmer! smile

Great thread had me beaming as I read it not too often that happens. wink

Big fan?

There's a bit on the BBR (MX-5 turbo and tweaked BMW Mini tuners) website where they mention not to rolling road forced induction engines due to the lack of air compared to when the cars are rolling.

Rolling road forced induction engines isn't a good idea?

Surely the RR printout will show you whether the power and/or torque drops off at the top end of the rev range. 6800 seems quite low for a limit too - is that a feature of the Sigma engine vs the K-Series?

They've a massive fan they put infront of the car?

Probably more air than you'd get driving along hehe

My Chim 400 spent a few hours in the company of Mark Adams a few years back and he managed to get another 30 bhp out of her, the result...................239 bhp @ 6100 rpm.

Probably a bit less now as the cam is 110,000 miles old scratchchin

Is the 370z a chain-driven engine? I understand a difference in the age of a chain can move the torque curve and increase top end (indeed on my Merc the valve timing figures are quoted along with the age of timing chain as a constant). It's interesting that 4th gear gave a funny reading in the M5. Bizarre. And just goes to show you can't believe any old dyno figure wink.
Good idea for a feature.

The Chim 4 litre engine in my 400SE gave 230 bhp @ 5,300 rpm and 251 lbs torque @ 4,000 rpm...pretty much standard engine.

Where are the torque figures for the session, and where are the 'at the wheels' figures ?

Just as important IMO.

Where's surrey rolling road? I might get my GT2 over there if they're handy.
No point they don't do pork.
Charlie must have lowered his standards to do my 944 Turbo then! Good work from the TVR.

Are there rolling roads that can deal with Defenders?
