Wow....I'm pretty shocked by this thread. Been aware of PH for years, reading the motoring news side since it started but only registered on the forums a week or two ago.

There is a prevailing undercurrent of anger and hypocrisy on here, which I have noticed from the start but kept ignoring until finding this thread where it all appears to have exploded in a self righteous orgy of condescension and self congratulation - lots of comments about the OP being what's wrong with this country, when in truth what it actually wrong is illustrated perfectly by the content of this thread.
The passing of judgement, vilification and blame mongering that people are gleefully heaping on each party. Most contributors to this thread sound like a bunch of redtop tabloid headline writers.

The irony here is almost funny. Indignation at the 'violent' action of throwing a can of drink in frustration followed by a comment like "If you'd done that to me I'd have dented your face."
Because that's not violent at all, and is PERFECTLY acceptable behaviour.

No, the problem with this country isn't Vorsprung Douchbag Technik on the wrong side of the road, or Mr Angry launching redbull from his convertible, it's the rest of you tcensoreds who are so ready to crucify somebody - ANYbody else for the slightest thing.

It's a shame because I'd kind of hoped to join what has the appearance of being the ultimate petrolhead community in the UK, but PH is in danger of going even further up its own backside than most one-marque forums, which comes as a surprise to me as a dweller of a few one-marque forums myself.

And I'm aware this soapbox tirade is probably more appropriate for somewhere like the lounge but frankly I doubt I'll be around long enough to gain access - it has not been a particularly pleasant couple of weeks reading.

  • Awaits the onslaught of "censored-off then" comments* laugh

post of the year, the OP lost his temper for a split second in perfectly understandable circumstances, too many people on here acting like they are angels withimmpecable tempraments

I have driven in most Euro countries, Tunisa,Egypt,Turkey and America..Maybe because I have not spent as much time in those countries as driving in the UK. For some reason in the UK people get in the saftey of their car and become absolute angry people! even beeping somone to let them know your there creates some kind of road rage reaction!

Wheres in other countries people seem to be tolorate poor driving more than in the UK.

That, and nobody throws a can of anything at you when you clearly just fked up.
If it was acceptable to hurt/throw stuff at people who make errors, the driving standards in this country would go up massively through "natural selection" smile

Don't want to drag this (rather entertaining) thread out for ever, but.........

Without defending the OP, just wondered what the PH mob would say if the thread started with "someone threw a can of sticky energy drink at my R8, just because I tried an overtaking manouvre that went wrong (OK so we both had to do an emergency stop and I nearly hit him head-on). He must have been jealous of my car!"

Boot might be on the other foot methinks....

Trying to work out the force with which it would have hit the R8 and therefore calculate how much damage it may have done?

I think not. If anything the PH braying mob are more likely to pull an OPs driving apart rather than any other party.
