Flux
Footman James
A-Plan
Endsleigh (well he is young and they should be used to it)

Then it's back to the yellow pages to find adverts for "young driver insurance" I guess.

OP - I think the thing to learn from this, is when all the other insurers are quoting on night on £2k and one quotes you on £1k then alarm bells should ring. You should think "hang on, must have something wrong here, I best make sure that that really is the quote". Double check ALL details and ask them to post out a full quote so you have evidence of a correct quote.

I know no excuse is good enough but its hardly surprising some people run with no insurance.

My Elise was £1300 to insure when I was 22 (with Elephant). Has insurance really gone up that much in five years?
Yes. I got my Jag at 20. Insurance was £1,700 TPFT. I tried to get a quote for the same thing, with the same details (i.e. 20 yo male, same address etc), recently, and it was £3,200.

+1 for APlan, you have fallen into the young driver trap of buying a small car that lots of other young drivers have therefore it is a higher risk fr the Ins Co because of that. If you can get your deposit back and get something that no self respecting yoof/boy racer would touch with a bargepole you would probably get the same price for double the amount of car.

Could try an Audi A4, they aren't crashed by young males that much.

My mate got a 1.8 insured with Adrian Flux for £1400 at the age of 19 with 0ncb.

Of course, I'm sure there are many other cars you could pick.
