I feel a bit of a fraud with you £500 Touring owners for having spent a massive £6000 last April for an E46 330i Touring (ex-Channel Islands hence v. low miles) but it's still a lot of car for the money.

The only thing I can think of replacing it with is a 335i Touring but they are all still the wrong side of 20-large.

Sounds like a good buy sir! £425 doesnt get you a stunner! 170k, rust on all arches, child stained seats and knocking suspension, but with a bit of TLC it can be sorted and the great thing about BMWs i find is they can take a lot of abuse unlike other marques

had no clue what Alpina was in fact until first service raped me of £600 routine servicing in 2008 tyres being biggest chunk of that bill at the dealers.
To be brutally honest, if you buy tyres from a BMW dealer you deserve every bit of raping you get; Main Dealer quoted £235 per corner on my B3, when Kwik Fit next door were doing the exact same things for £145.

I asked Main Dealer if I could see their tyre fitting equipment. 'Oh we just take them next door Sir'
4 x £145 = £580 Sytners BMW was considerably cheaper i had full service in that price too. I did feel raped first car with big wheels 17x9 being used to £30 per corner mid range tyres for any daily donkey.

Something is wrong with your car then because mine is as tight as you like.

Uh huh, mines nice and feelsome, I can feel quite a bit through the wheel - more than most cars (obviously not MX5 or Elise standard) and certainly better than the E39.

I suspect worn bushes, and most likely, not the right tyres.

Looks like it stood around a while when it was new if it was registered in 97 as BMW facelifted the grille panel and side repeaters in Sept 96 and this is the old style.

I also notice that the side repeaters are fitted the wrong way round, the profile line of the lamps should follow the line of the wheel arch not opose it.
It's unusual for a pre-facelift to have body coloured sills (a rarely ticked cost option). Perhaps the car has had replacement wings and the bodyshop incorrectly fitted the side repeaters.
Stick the chassis number into realoem.com and it will bring up the build date.
Advert was wrong - this car was registered in August 96 - though that doesn't solve the problem of the upside-down side repeaters...

Oh god, you bought the auto
And....? wink I think it suits the pipe-and-slippers beige leather/plastic.... Plus in all seriousness it's a darn sight better than the auto they bunged in the E30.

And if I want to change gears myself I can always take the Caterham or the Landie

If it had enough pedals I'd be interested.

Loads of miles but a good honest car, and it's a 328i Manual. Paid £700. Win.
