If she pays in full, then move on.

If she won't then police. All the way.

Her and her mates seemed to think it would be funny to run a stone or something donw the whole side of the RS. Lovely people. She actually got a final warning from the old bill and when I mentioned to the copper about a civil claim, now she has been charged, he did say "Good luck with that. They are not well off people." If I put a claim in they will be forced to repay it at about 50p per month and the chances of me even seeing that are minmial. I also know she is only apologising as the BiB probably made her do it along with her new appointed social worker type person. I still want to make her feel uncomfortable about it.

So is that the sum total of her penalty? She has to apologise to you? Is that it? No community service etc?

About 3 months ago, I woke up in the middle of the night to hear a disturbance outside the house. Grabbed my phone, ran outside to find two drunken students making there way down our street knocking wing mirrors off cars, placing roadworks signs / cones on car roofs, and ripping off aerials.

Phoned local police and chased after them. Seconds after I called plod, I had 3 patrol cars and half a dozen officers detaining the miscreants.

They spent a night in the cells, and admitted to the damage the next morning.

The cops gave me, and my fellow neighbours / victims a choice, they could charge the lads, it would then be down to the CPS to prosecute, then it may get to court, and they may be foud guilty, where they may get a sentance or a criminal record of some sort.

The alternative was "Community Resolution / Resitution?" not sure which. But basically that left the victims to decide what was appropriate punishment. So we agreed that if they paid for all the damage they'd be let off.

So we all got our cars repaired, then sent the bills in to the policeman dealing with it. A month after that the police came round with an envelope of cash and settled up with everyone. Total was well over £2000. (I guess that was a student loan / overdraft or a difficult conversation with their parents).

I'd be asking the police dealing with it about the Community Resolution thing and see if it works in our area. http://www.northumbria.police.uk/advice_and_inform...

Long and short of it, she pays up, or she gets a criminal record (IMHO)

You are 100% right. I don't think she has any remorse for it at all. This is what I want to try to distill in her. I shall think of something that will make sure her summer weekends aren't what she thinks they are going to be like.

Was there a spate of burglaries in your street between the cars getting damaged and the envelope of cash arriving?

Seriously, i am pleasantly shocked by that outcome!

Give her a chance.
Those that are from a troubled/not so well off family back ground. Are the more lickly ones to cause this sort of damage. There is good in some of those people and you got to give them at least one chance to help get them out of it.
Don't write everybody off straight away. You never know when someone appologises they may even learn to actually meen it.

So let me get this straight....

She runs a stone over your GT3 RS and would get away with it???

I once hit a car (11y old) with my bike, mirror and some scratches (tought I could sneak trough getmecoat). The group insurance paid the damage and got a bit of a ripping at home.

If it was a stone over a car my father would have legitimately killed me.

I would go for it all the way, why would YOU need to pay 1500£?

My way of doing it:
Talk to the parents, maybe propose a payment plan (150£/month, 10 months sounds very reasonable).
If they won't go for it, threaten with court, if that doesn't work, take it to court.
Also, I would mention that if she came and confess on her own, she'd get off much easier, but that's just me hehe.

Gutted about your car tough!

rofl

Quite possibly the most limp wristed apologist b0ll0cks I've EVER read, and the reason why this country is in such a state.

She should be beaten to DEATH, because she's a pikey scumbag. She trashed a GT3RS for no reason, and she's had a warning from the police before.

People like this should be sent to the workhouse for life!!

She's on her final warning from the police, she's had enough chances IMO.

This is the reason our country is in the state it is. She's had a chance. A few chances by the sounds. Now is the time to stop giving her chances and make her bloody pay for it.

Keep treating them softly and they'll keep doing it. Harsher punishments act as a deterrent and it's about time we stopped pussy-footing around and implemented them.

I think you have the wrong idea of what this appoligy means, its NOT a chance for the op to ask how they will repay or put right the £1500

its simply, she says sorry (can be by letter or in person) and that is it, case closed, no payment, no punishment nothing.
she will not ask for it to be done in person, and the op cant insist, she will scribble "soz bout yur moto, wont do a gain " and that will be enough to walk away and enjoy her weekends with her mates, while the op works his ass off doing overtime to pay for the repair or his insurance increase next year

Sorry, but probably a 5% chance of that.

The 'troubled' background types usually are continuious delinquents who really shouldn't be given a second chance.. It sounds like shes already had enough chances anyhow.
