Got the energy left to do a bit more of a write up?
Driving experience day @ croft. Day started with sighting laps in a new Mazda 3MPS( Quite nice) then out in the Porsche Cayman 2.7 this time driving. Building up pace as the instructor grows in confinence in your ability. Can't praise the Cayman enough, it really could be driven by your grand mother yet it handles so nicely. Then out in the SV. As soon as you sit in it you can feel you are in a supercar worthy of its 1/4 million price tag. The seating position is very odd. Your arms bent with the wheel close to you. Steering wheel at a unusual angle slightly offset to your body and feet. Once rolling the car rides much better than you would imagine, the throttle very direct, steering full of feel and nicely weighted. Gears chang very quickly and agressivly too. Downchanges are great especially when going down into 2nd for the hairpin automatically bliping its 12 cylinders.
Down the striaght Martin allowed me to open her up changing at full throttle at about 6k in 3rd to 5th gear and the car really was shifting now. Christ only knows what the power delivery must be like near 9k, truth is 6k upchanges in a car like that for someone with my limited ability is plenty enough.
Nearly forgot about the brakes! Quite simply stunning. Equally as impressive as how it went, the carbon set up were very powerful as you would expect for a car like this. They made the F430 brakes seem poor however you only had to just touch them and the car would scrub speed very quickly and sharply indeed. Martin was great company in the car, never once did i feel like i was having to shift up too early and i will have a vivid memory of the day.
Best start saving up!
Depends on the instructor you get I've found. Been on a few track days which I've had as gifts.
Been on one where the instructor literally tried to make me into button in 4 laps, shouting at me for any tiny mistake. Kind of ruined the fun to be honest.
However a different day at prestwold was brilliant fun. I literally was told to enjoy it and drive the car how I wanted, I was in an r8 and really giving it all the beans I could, even hitting the limiter once or twice on the way out of hairpins in 2nd. We were diving up the inside of astons at the corners, really was an experience.

Guys thankyou for your replies. My opinion of the driving experience yesterday is that this was simply a case of me being able to enjoy driving fairly briskly (for me) a incredibly rare vehicle one of nine in the UK. I will never get the opportunity to do this again.
I too would have loved to have reved the car through the whole rev range however i can assure you that at two thirds of its maximum revs many of its 661 horse's are being released quite quickly. Croft too is a bumpy circuit and the staights are not that long. My daily drive is a Insignia estate diesel, reletivly speaking these are so different in every possible way. If I ran a Caterham R400 or a F430 then my opinion may be very different however considering my ability and experience I never felt short changed. Martin the owner was a great guy too, if ever i was lucky enough to own such a vehicle I would not let people drive my vehicle in such a way. Martin took time out to talk about his car and also his other cars (F430 Scuderia and a Lola T70 amongst many)The day was unforgettable experience, in 20 years or so when these things are worth a significant ammount of money i will be able to look back and tell my Kids that i got to drive one of those around a circuit fairly quickly.
My day was a prize that my mum won at work, having no real understanding of what she could be driving she gave the prize to me. A great free day out. As a gesture of appericiation i paid for my mother to have 2 fast laps in a Caterham as a passenger. To see her face get out of that car was great, she absolutely loved it! Great memories, great day.
