On a large roundabout with painted road markings, a LR Discovery 4 came up alongside then moved from the left lane into the middle lane. His running board collided with my wheel, knocking me into the right lane. Incredibly the car was still drivable but needed a new wing, new tyre, light touching up on the bumper, buffing up of the mirror housing and a refurbed alloy.
A year and two weeks later he is still denying liability, not only claiming that I moved into his lane but that it happened on a completely different part of the roundabout (funny enough near to an exit).

Jesus that made me wince.
What happened, is it repairable? I'm in wexford, pretty sure I've seen that car around cork!
Aye you probley did see it around Cork as I had it as my daily for about a year and Im living about 5 mins outside of Cork City. The crash was the Thursday night of Donegal rally weekend. I was driving out to my acomodation afet only just landing in Letterkenny and I met a lad on my side of the road on a bend and the ditch was the only place to head for :-( Shes sat in the garage since and its saveable but dont know i I can muster up the budget for itWhat happened, is it repairable? I thought any monococque that ended up on its roof was an instant writeoff?ChemicalChaos said:

Why? Roof panels can be repaired/replaced. I know a couple of people who've rolled cars and they've been repaired by the insurer. The entire shell will be replaced if required and economically viable. ChemicalChaos said:

The car was an insurance write off but a financial one at that (they dont exactly quote on replacing 25 year panels even when I told them I had the sourced already!!) rather than a safety write off. The fact I was doing about 25/30 mph at the time meant the damage wasnt overly significant so should I go about repairing adnd have it properly safety inspected and certified the old girl may live onHappened Wednesday night on the way back from work.
A lesson and remind to all, if its cold, wet and has been snowing be careful.
Touched the brakes, started a sideways slide for about 20m, mounted the pavement, smashed into a traffic light taking it clean off which then came down on the roof, span the car 360 back into the middle of the road.
RIP winter shed
30th of december last year, heading home after 24 days offshore and I hit a bambi.Absolutely nothing I could do as it was very icey. It ran straight out and stopped right in front of me. Luckily it hit the right side as I have an evolve carbon airbox which is declared but not covered by the insurance that lives on the left side of my engine bay. It's head and neck detached from it's body as evidenced from the blood on the wheels and bonnet. 6.5 k of damage done. However she is repaired and is being collected tomorrow. Ah the joys of living in the the north-west highlands of scotland. Found 4 of the furry critters in my back garden yesterday morning.
Feel very lucky that I was ok and the car can be repaired.
Contents of the deer's stomach ended up in my brake ducts.

venison for supper then?
Nope, I drove on for 2 minutes hoping that the car would be ok.....denying the odd looking bonnet line. The worst bit was that when I stopped to assess the damage/scream/cry there were 3 deer stood on the other side of the road just looking at me. Driving at night during the winter up here is essentially just a game of dodge the deer. Last week I ended up sitting 6 feet in front of a stag with my lights on full beam....it wasn't bothered at all and refused to move even with a beep of the horn. Fearless and stupid...a poor combination.Sorry to see that. I had a glancing blow impact with a deer in December too. Luckily I got away with a broken reflector in the bumper which cost £17 to replace with new. They are often standing about in my garden too. A pal had his pickup door badly dented by a stag which got stuck between the truck and his fence and panicked. Beautiful animals, but dumb.
Blimey, having seen the blood stains I was glad when I read it was a dear.
I had a VERY near miss with one driving through east Sussex a couple of years ago. Also had a similar near miss with a kangaroo in Australia a few years back, saved only by remembering what the bloke at the car hire outlet had said; that if you see one kangaroo, then there are probably more!

Look on the plus side - at least the deer was deflected away from the car. I remember seeing pictures a few years ago of a Z4 that hit one on the autobahn, and the deer ended up evenly distributed through the engine bay of the car. It wasn't pretty....
Nor was this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pG4GkxxAwzQMight be NSFW.

Just be glad they're not the moose we have here. Problem is they're tall, heavy and have thin legs. That means that if you hit them at a reasonable speed you break the legs and the body falls, landing on the windscreen and crushing the driver/ passenger due to the weight of them.NRS said:

The m3 is getting tucked up in the garage until the deer bugger off back up into the hills.
