My local branch told me their job wasn't good enough before I even saw it! When I got it back, it still wasn't perfect, even though it was one of the most simple jobs they could have performed.

Thes car clinics a franchise Mitch? I wondered if they were.
Don't think so, it says "part of the Nationwide group of companies" on their website. Doesn't mention franchising anywhere. All I do know that the one in Bradford was very good when I had the unfortunate need to use them.

Was just happily minding my own business, ready to start the 120 mile trip to Virginia Waters at 0600 on a Sunday, and then whammo. A chick tried to turn into my secondary road, when she realised she didn't want to she stopped, causing the oncoming car to lock up, swerve and avoid her, and rip the front end off my car.

Had it repaired at just car clinic I think they are called, and they did an absolutely immaculate job repairing it.
Was it taken away for a scene of crime investigation? - why the number on top?

the van being ours...
Owner of the BMW was happy as he got to drive my new 5, so not all bad smile
Happened on same day as new fleet policy started. Not so good.

The BMW looks like it made zero attempt to avoid the accident, was it at a complete stop and the van swerved at the last minute?

It was one of our drivers.
Yes basically he tried to avoid the BMW but obviously not very well.
I didn't want Him to claim on my insurance so offered to repair, as excess 1k and policy 35k per year.
But he's not happy.
And now wants £600 even though replaced the wingmirror, front wing etc.
It's a cheap car and yes according to driver didn't bother to move.
Now have to replace head gasket on one van and new engine on another so don't want to pay out tbh.
Especially since we repaired and car is worth fk all

Plus he also did 100 miles in my 318i and 300+
Miles in my 16 plate 520d over 5 days so he could keep
On the road as I have company insurance for all vehicles
AND borrowed one of my vans on a Sunday and drive 300 miles!! This was off my back, just being nice.
As a favour to him for not going through insurance!! So he said...
But wants extra cash for repair as not happy, but he didn't want to give me my Car back
So clearly testing for a new car and I'm paying the deposit even though I paid for parts for this repair.
Yes I don't want it on the claims history but at what fking cost

I'm guessing having a van out of action was the proverbial cherry on the cake!

That BMW owner sounds like an ahole and looks like he didn't even make any attempt to move over.

This yes How would insurance view not making any attempt to avoid an accident?

I'd imagine they'd take the view that the BMW had managed to stop, the van had not. Seriously cannot believe the comments about the BMW driver, yes he could have moved over a foot or two but the van would still have hit him. Do you expect him to drive into the hedge to avoid what appears to be a van being driven too quickly for the circumstances?

from that picture how can yo tell who is at fault. i live in the countryside and the delivery people fly round the lane due to the fact they get peanuts per delivery. if you can't stop in time then it is your fault, simple considering the van is probably 1.5 times weight of car.

BMW stopped, Van unable to stop so had to ditch it in the hedge. Do we need to question who's at fault? BMW still sounds like he's being a dick but if the van could have stopped in time, there'd have been no accident surely?

The BMW is parked 10 metres past the passing place on the single track road, that is not the van drivers fault IMO.

How can you be so sure? Without seeing the full road its impossible to tell. There could be a bend behind where the photo was taken, which the van came round too fast, being unable to stop and hence ditching it. Whereas the BMW might be going slowly enough to stop in time. From my understanding, the van hasn't tried to pass the BMW on the verge, it's been unable to stop in time.

Agreed about being the van drivers fault.

Yodel drivers are special people with no regard for other motorists.\

More to the point, that would have gone through the insurance regardless.

I just don't get why anyone would get 'personally' involved in something like this and not let the insurance companies sort it out between them.
