After all the work you put into that? I'm very sorry to see that picture and hope the car can be repaired.I was rear-ended in my 911 3 1/2 weeks ago. Child (well, young) in a leased Merc C220 Coupe who was on the phone, saw the lights go green and planted his right foot down.
Unfortunately, he didn't see the car in front of me hadn't pulled away and so I hadn't moved. Watched the whole thing out of the corner of my eye in the rear view mirror; his face in the split second he realised what he was about to do was a picture.
Mercifully he admitted liability and his insurer called to admit liability within 90 minutes of the crash; for a London shunt, I suppose it was as civilised as it gets.

In fairness that is pretty decent! Most people would argue it as much as they possibly can these days.4 years on I still haven't had a penny for my last write-off because liability is still unsettled.

Two days ago our heli crashed on the Mutnovsky volcano in Kamchatka, Russia. Three guys were ejected from the open door, with one suffering spinal compression and another with knee injuries. Inside the chopper we had two broken necks, broken ribs and various minor injuries. Very fortunate under the circumstances. The injured are stable and will be flying back to their home countries soon. I escaped with no more than bumps, bruises and whiplash.
I think you posted about this trip on the skiing thread maybe 1 year ago or so? I actually looked at prices and discussed this with friends. Glad we didn't do it now!
Hope you all recover as much as possible.
The Golf pic is very scary too!
That was 60mph or so head on into the armco.
I thought it was going to be broken legs time etc but we were totally unscathed, no airbags, passenger cell perfect (doors shutting etc). I was quite amused at the "bonnet fault" message on the display. Er, yes.
Insco wrote it off but it was sold at Copart and is showing as insured now, so it must be fixed.
Binned my bike on a wet trackday earlier this year and ended up bouncing off the barrier and sliding along the wet grass at about 70mph
The bike was ok apart from a bent subframe, cracked fairing and missing pegs. I wasnt quite so fortunate!
Snapped my Sacrum, but I'm back in good health now luckily

This happened to my original 1984 Golf GTi recently:
I was stationary, turning right and giving way to oncoming traffic when a Volvo 850 hit me from behind at approximately 60MPH.
The elderly driver didn't even brake or swerve and turned out to be a diabetic who was feeling "unwell" and trying to get home.
It was a nice morning and I had the window open and suddenly heard the Volvo heading for me but I couldn't move.
I looked over my left shoulder in the hope that I would see the car go past but it hit the Golf with a massive impact which spun my car round into the oncoming traffic which luckily managed to avoid colliding with me.
I consider myself very lucky to escape with cuts, bruises and severe whiplash when I look at the wreckage.
Thankfully I was alone - anyone in the back would have almost certainly been killed.
It's such a bloody tragedy as the car was irreplaceable and had a remarkable history. It was awarded 'Best in Show' at last year's PH/VW Golf GTi Open which speaks volumes for an original, unrestored car. I can't imagine what I will replace it with.
The remains have been sold to a fellow enthusiast who is restoring a similar car that he has owned since new.

Apparently this was my fault, took almost 2 years to sort it out with the insurance (police etc required). On the bright side when they tried to move the tractor with one of their others the entire axle inc. wheels fell completely off like something from a comedy sketch. That made me chuckle.
Only reason I wasn't using the s2 exige was it was in for service!
Dunc.
Oh long straight road by the way, no corners involved.

What happened there and how come they found you at fault? Scary.
I think he's saying they tried to but he fought it all the way and was eventually found not at fault? How on earth could they possibly try and blame you?

A bit mundane as this thread goes, but this is the front end of my car after my "friend" drove it into a metal bollard in Tesco's car park. Nothing that won't buff out. "Friend" was paying too much attention to the children throwing around a traffic cone. Friend then proceeded to give nearby shopping trolley a shove with the car for good measure.
Sum of the damage:
Scratches on the numberplate.
Scratches on the front bumper.
Minor deformation of the above bumper.
My car was very lucky, and seems to be made like a tank for something so small and diddy.
It did what the titanic should have done: hit the iceberg head on, rather than have it scrape down the side. Reduced the damage imensely.

Yeah that is correct, apologies if that wasn't clear. The tractor was actually coming up the road towards me then decided to cut across to enter the field. Glad I didn't hit the front of it though.

Yes, will obviously stipulate that the whole car comes back the same colour No good matching the bumper to the wings if the boot is then out of sync.
The biggest problem is that they will (on point of policy) not blend new panels to old with extra paint.... it will be interesting to see if they get it right 2nd time around.
Wow that's not great, usually quite hard to see a colour difference through a camera too but that's clear as day!The biggest problem is that they will (on point of policy) not blend new panels to old with extra paint.... it will be interesting to see if they get it right 2nd time around.
