Accelera tyres - worth avoiding??
Discussion
Well if the OP wants to know how they behave in the wet on a track day up against a much more powerful car check out my 35 year old Sprint enjoying the conditions using 185 60 13 Accelera tyres.

I've had Accelera tyres on front, rear and awd drive performance cars and not had a problem but I've not driven like an idiot in bad conditions. I've just bought some more for an old Saab which I drive reasonably quickly and don't expect problems.
I've had a motorsports licence, done circuits and hillclimbs, worked directly for manufacturers BMW and Jaguar so although I'm not an Ayrton Senna I'm not an idiot when driving. Maybe the negative responses come from drivers who've never used crossplies !
They are a good tyre if used sensibly but that aplies to all tyres.

Surprisingly ok for a budget tyre, probably the best of the budget tyre options. They are'nt ditch finder speacials, come with a not too high treadwear rating which means they are made of rubber not plastic.
I don't know the tyres. But I'd take this guys opinion pretty seriously. He sees the odd set of tyres what with his smoking habit.Fitted 2 accelera 255/35 19 96y to my Audi rs4 10 days ago. I drive it hard when traffic permits. Had very worn vredesteins on before. The car feels very loose now where with very worn tyres it stuck like glue. Verdestein make accelera but they are no where near as good. I will be changing them to Toyota proxos sp1 or kumho very soon. The car squirms over 60 mph. Not good with that much power or performance.

as others have said Accelera are a budget continental - personally unless its a shopping hatch that won't be doing lots of fast driving.

Budget Continental my arse! I had two of these on the back of my M3 when I bought it. One brand new, the other not far off. Changed them for part-worn Contispt 2's and the difference was astounding in the wet. Please, please please avoid!

Accelleras don't belong near any performance car. In my experience they don't handle standing water well, and you'll need your wits about you in the wet, even on gentle bends.
Having said that, I have them on my daily snotter and are obviously fine for pootling up and down the motorway.

Sod the tyres, you needs some decent wipers!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCsaH6LI9a0
I bought Acceleras for my old Pug 306dTurbo shed a couple of years ago; absolutely awful. Wheelspin everywhere and a distinct lack of any lateral grip. On one occasion leaving the M4 at junction 18, negotiating the left hand turn at the top of the slip road (something I've done weekly for the last 12 years) the car slid across the carriageway into lane 2. I couldn't wait to get rid of them. Conversely I've run all manner of budget tyres on my tweaked MR2 Turbo (usually Falkens) and on my current daily 5series (Nankangs) and have never had an issue.
Thread revival. I've just bought a 330D and it has the Michellin Sports on the front and these excuses for tyres on the back for some reason!
I found this thread as googled these tyres as I'd never heard of them before after I've had some big sideways moments in the wet when just driving normally and not even pushing on. You cant even put more than 1/2 throttle down in the wet without them breaking traction.
BY FAR the worst tyres I've drove on any car and that's saying a lot as I've got some really cheap tyres on my little run around.
These tyres are coming off ASAP and going straight in the bin where they belong.
