Bit of a thread ressurection, but I hadn't seen this before someone linked to this thread from the Doran new article on the main page.

What absolutely fantastic insider information over the last pages - just awesome.

Fantastic thread.
Does anyone know if there's any truth in the rumour that Ford had to seriously reduce the price of the last RS200's to get them off there books as they just would'nt sell after GrpB was binned. I'm sure I read/heard that Ford lost thousands on the last few just to get shut of them, what a buy they must have been.
Stuart Turner always says that even at the £50k asking price, Ford just about broke even and he had sleepless nights when the end of Group B was announced whilst production was still underway..hence his anecdote of being asked whether they should indeed push the cars towards, or way from, the wall whilst the factory unit was ablaze smile

This thread has resurfaced just as I got to another handful of RS200 pics in my long term project of scanning old photos on to my PC. These were taken shortly after my father took delivery of his red one as a company car.

I must admit, it is nice to click on a thread with RS200 in the title and not find out it's about Clios.

Classic and Sporscar mag has an interesting short article by Graham Robson on the

timeline of the conception of the RS200.

Contains some spooky coincidences with me ,one of the car's biggest fans.smile

Ref the C & S C article, it's fascinating to see from the authentic time line how the evolution of the car progressed in 1983/1984.

Lucky Robson, it seems that after Prince Michael of Kent had had his 'Private View' in March 1984, Robson was the first non-Ford-personnel individual, ahead of all the regular press, to inspect Car No. 1.

My favourite part was when Stuart Turner turned up at some random show and gave Robson

an envelope stuffed with B200 info on the quiet....laugh
