When will it end? Surely they cant keep that design going for much longer? It could develop 1000bhp and lap the Ring in 5 minutes but it would still put me to sleep. It doesnt look like a supercar to me, its more sportscar. Sure they turn heads but its for the wrong reason. I hate to say crashed through halfords but i think theyve run out ideas so theyve dug out the rattle cans and fablon. I have no desire to own a Porsche.
what do you desire to own?
Well, going by the thread he started about the cars he's owned - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... it'll probably be another generic FWD hot hatchback. Did he never get bored??

Seems to be the case with most of the anti-ferrari/porsche/lambo people on here, I've noticed. A classic case of reverse snobbery.

To answer your two points

Supercar V Sportscar

Sort of agree with you on this, I would tend to call the GT2 a sports car, but nothing wrong with that smile

The desire to own a Porsche

Have you driven a GT2, or any 911 derivative ?

Others will have driven more but recently I have driven a Ferrari F360, a 1989 3.2 Carrera, a 997 Turbo, a GT3 and a GT2 and the new M3.

The M3 was a dissapointment, massively capable but not exciting
The F360 was an event !, fast, responsive, Wide smile
All the 911 were great, from the slowest to the fastest. So good to jump in and drive. The feel of the rear engine is something unique. Its actually great for the track. Though I prefered the GT3 to the GT2, the GT2 RS will probably answer some of deficiencies.

Once thing people tend to overlook with the GT3/2/RS cars, they also go through the same sort of longevity testing that would destroy an F360.

Having a car with the GT2's performance would be amazing, having such a car that you could actually use is almost unique.

But it is carbon, just not painted I assume.
That doesn't make it look any less daft, although I'm sure they'd paint it for you if you asked nicely enough.
I agree it doesn't look good, but think of the extra grams the paint will add! wink
They will paint the bonnet if you ask/ pay. It does look a bit 'Techart' with the carbon additions I must admit, but I love this car so, so much.
I think the aim of the matt effect on the bonnet of this (and others) is to reduce sun glare - or it was on old American muscle cars.

Gotta admit to not ever really being a fan of the Porsche, Im over in Slovakia at the moment and a big tour of high performance cars came in to the town all ferrari's, porsches etc and one of them was a Porsche GT RS..

Looks kinda odd when I saw them in magazines but in the flesh what a sexy looking car. It was black with orange wheels, cage and mirrors.

Was getting a million more times attention and pics then the ferraris and one of those was a white 430 scuderia (if thats how you spell)..

Top car in everyway smile

You can pick up a boggo 997 Gt2 for what, £100k now?
I would be interested to know how far you could get with £60k spent upgrading one of those yourself.

I know that none of you will agree with me on this but it's still a 911 and all 911s are driven by people with small c**ks. And they're ugly, common and have no character or charm. They are all about how much weight you can save and how much downforce you've got. If I had the (approxiately) £170,000 to spend on a car that's epic on road and track, I'd buy a Corvette ZR1 (yes I know it's extremely crass but I love it) and spent the extra 60-odd thousand pounds on converting it to RHD and revamping that ghastly interior.

So you would spend £170,000 on an evil handling pile of American Junk - fast yes but handling (with the exception of the Le Mans racers which I guess are more money??)....having it converted it to RHD, sounds like a great idea if you want a car with zero resale value, and you say Porsche's have no charm.

Driven by people with small cocks, berated by people who are big cocks....in a nice way!

I still prefer the 3RS personally - pure bias iI suppose but I went for the 3 due to preference for the natural aspiration.........
