Some of the best I've seen from BMW for a long time, even though their design is still too fussy and unresolved compared to some of their older designs. And their cars are bloated. Especially compared to a design like the Quattroporte which, again in my opinion, isn't bloated.

The prettiest and most tasteful thing to wear the BMW badge in a long long time IMO, especially from the rear profile, despite having tangs of Maserati, Passat CC and Jaguar XF about it.

Defo better looking than anything BMW are currently making. Jag XF looks better.

I just thought I'd add that the German in the article, by my understanding, refers to reduced cabin noise, not impact safety.
I find the air intakes to be disproportionately large, and the rest could just be any other modern BMW, all IMO

So pleased BMW have made a car I would want to buy! I love my 535D M sport (practicality with a remapped kick in the harris) but it's no looker.. This brings in angles from the new Z4 and the Mazzer GT to make a "still vanilla, but with sprinkles" look. If the engines and specs are right this is the only BMW I would consider replacing mine with in 2 years time! But, I've not seen the new M5 yet... ..

Looks pretty to me. I hope they sort out the chassis. Recent BMWs left me with the impression of harsh ride quality (potentially from the runflat tyres) and mediocre handling. Not sure that that is a winning combination

My german is a bit rusty but it says something like:
Hatchbacks have always had a bad problem with soundproofing at the rear (which saloons don't suffer from as much). Plus, Saloons have better protection against theft.
Something like that anyway.

Something like that anyway. Indeed - and they they think the extra thet protection is what some markets desire.... (I'd take the whole car rather than break in though)

After four door coupes we can no doubt look forward to a rash of fixed head convertibles.

"Damit haben sie immer einen stärkeren Geräuscheintrag in den Innenraum, weil sie den Kofferraum nicht genügend dämmen können", begründete Draeger diese Entscheidung. Zudem biete das Gran Coupe so einen besseren Einbruchschutz, was in manchen Märkten von Bedeutung sei."
... Translation:
"[Hatchbacks] are always noisier inside, because they are too exposed to noise from the luggage area," said Draeger, explaining the reasoning behind the decision. "Additionally, the Gran Coupe bodystyle offers better protection against break ins, which is significant in some markets."
