400mm spacers - 140mm would be tame in comparison, non?

Am i the only person who would have liked to see what it would have looked like if it was actually finished? It cirtainly wouldnt have been my cup of tea, but fair play.

Also, i remember when modified cars looked like this...

Now i dont think this (once painted say white, and tidied up)
looks (even if it is a 1.1) a million miles from something you might see on a rally stage, especially once the bodywork was installed properley and painted (assuming he doesnt paint it with glitter and dogst...)

I am fully prepared for an earbashing.

I'm not sure....

(Sorry!)

Must. Learn. To. Read.

Quips about the Ambiwlans incident won't be welcome, but may be deserved

That's true, I just wonder why anyone would spend all that time and money on a car he's never got to the point he can drive it. He's had if for two years after all.
But hey, if it keeps him off the streets smile
My Dad and I have taken 3yrs and we still reckon we have a year left hehe (ok building a car from scratch, but it keeps us entertained thumbup )

Stop it. Stop it now.

Unless you're 12, in which case carry on and enjoy masturbating over Justin Bieber.

I did - and I've been an IT geek for 16 years.

Perhaps it's the "yoof" speak that has passed me by - not that I'm complaining in this instance....

All of that time and effort... and it's still a 1.1 106. Which weighs more. And handles worse. Much worse. And doesn't have any door handles. Or rear wipers. Or front washers. Or side indicators.
...and more significantly, doesn't have any way to put fuel in.

Good on these guys though - they are the present day version of the Mini/MG/etc tinkerers of my youth. They cause me no issues, since they don't seem to actually drive their cars, and know a damn sight more about car mechanicals than me.

Thank god he came to his senses about those daft spacer.

However, if you take a look at the thread he starts bridging the hole in the bonnet with fiberglass, a few pages later you can see he's progressed beyond this and had a go at welding up the windscreen water jet hole, fast forward a couple of pages and he's cutting out steel and fabricating sections of bodywork and doing a fairly neat job for someone with limited experience.

I've seen post on forums and talked to people at classic car shows who like to brag about the work they have done to their classics but TBH I've seen many jobs that would just about pass for blobs of bird st on some 'restorations' - including the job I've just had to pay to have done on my landy. I think the lad with the 106 is actually learning from his mistakes and enjoying himself while he does the work, even if not everything he is doing is perfect.
