What intrigues me the most is that clearly, someone with access to the tools and materials needed, thought nothing of making a set of 200 mm spacers and handing them to someone who is clearly totally effing clueless about vehicle engineering. At a guess, he didn't make the guy sign a disclaimer pointing out that the items pictured above are only to be used as paperweights and should absolutely, positively not be anywhere near an actual vehicle...I just read that thread... jesus wept.
All of that time and effort... and it's still a 1.1 106. Which weighs more. And handles worse. Much worse. And doesn't have any door handles. Or rear wipers. Or front washers. Or side indicators.
And then the money - nothing there looks cheap - the car was £1,600, the first wheels were £650... gotta be at least a £4k spend there easily... and for what, a 1.1 106?!

Can't be bothered doing the sum, but i wonder how much of a thump/pothole it'd take to cause the wheel bolts to fail. Not much i imagine.
If the spacer fits over the spigot on the hub, and if there is a spigot machined into the spacers then the vertical loading on the wheel bolts should be minimal.Of course, if you're talking about somebody who wants mahoosive spacers, then those two ifs become rather large.
