I want that so badly, it is just what I am after, so low key it hurts, was gutted when I saw it was sold frown

That is a sleeper, pure and simple, thats what it is about, Anythign with an M or AMG badge isn't, they arent even subtle with their diffusers, scoops, quad pipes, vents and stuff, my wife isnt really interested in cars but knows an M3 is a quick car.

I think that Golf is about as good as it gets, I wanted a MK2 Golf 20VT, based on a GTI but I think now it has to be base model, oh the fun re-educating 335d owners smile
Funny you should say that, my mate has an R32 Powered FWD MK2 Golf running in the region of 270-280bhp, largely stripped out, or at least it was when he drove it home from Storm developments, and whilst trying out his new R32 lump on the way home, he stumbled upon a 335d and it gave him a very very hard time, he was not at all amused as it pulled away at 120mph. So a 20vt would have to have some mods to re educate them all

My uncle had a V8 Morris Minor that could leave Renault 5 Turbos for dust back in the 90s.

I love sleepers. I hope to build one in the future!

As far as factory stuff goes I've always had a wee thing for the W210 E55 AMG - They don't really look any different to an E320 with big wheels, but with a 350bhp V8 (which doesn't sound like much now, but this was before the E39 M5).

I remember seeing iirc a passat (diesel?) with something outrageous like 440 brake whilst looking almost completely standard, that was the sort of thing I was after. Something that looks utterly boring and generic, but would blow your head off acceleration wise/make the person in the corsa trying to race you off the lights rather embarrassed.

edit: Cheers for the info, I'll get googling Q-cars asap smile.
Theres plenty of pretty quick Corsas with turbo 2 litre engines in them that are usually pretty nippy! Easy swap as well.

supposedly near 500bhp and a lot lighter than a passat...

I actually think that looks pretty nice, for a Corsa

The usual swap and turbo and so on

Anyway, mentioning Passat diesels reminds me of a story I heard of a fella who had an accident in the town im from and he was out standing by his car at a crossroads. Passat TDI drives up with a very serious looking man driving and he just stops and stares at the crashed cars driver. Passat driver just stares and sits with the passat on the redline for about a minute just staring, lets the revs drop down to normal and drives off. Dont know why but it makes me laugh. Was a fairly new Passat at the time as well.

There are plenty of these knocking about these days, and I would still call them sleepers.

2 of my mates have gone down this route... One is a Corsa 1.4 and looks standard apart from electric sunroof and 2.0 redtop

The other is a Nova Van with Calibra turbo engine.

They are the ultimate pocket rockets and no one looks twice at them unless they are giving it beans

Doesn't matter how much power, i would still find it depressing driving a Corsa.

And is there anyone who doesn't know about the xj220 transit? Kind of gone the opposite way from sleeper now, there's a fair amount of people who would recognize it!
