Is it really that difficult to get 400hp out of 2.5l?
Doesn't the Evo 10 FQ400 get its 400 horses from a 2.0L Mivec lump?

As previiously stated on Mk2 Focus RS threads Jamsport has been running well beyond this for a lot longer than any of these other companies just a shame that they cannot get "featured" as some of the more well known companies.

There development is a lot further on ;-)

Have a look http://www.mk2focusrs.co.uk/home/mk2-focus-rs-305p...

Exactly. I was drawing attention the Ford's engine and the relative ease with with 400hp ought to be obtained from it in the space year 2010.

I like that but, I like Torque Steer and dont see why rear wheels skidding, spinning or sliding is automatically considered superior, ok it kind of is but dont discount a good battle with the front wheels of a hot hatch as being the work of the devil.
Because they don't have to steer or do the majority of braking as well.

I seen a mere 30hp increase for £3k from a certain manufacturers approved tuner, so almost 100 for £4k is good value wink

But, I'd go with the Mountune kit and keep my warranty if I had a RS.

Thick end of £7K for "only" an extra 100 horses!

rolleyes
since when does £3895 + £595 = 7K ?
There's VAT to add to that too, which will be 2.5% higher from Jan :P

I love the focus RS, but this kind of tuning would have been so much better on a 4WD setup imo.
3895 + 595 = 4490 +20% VAT = £5388. Not even the thick end of 6k.

As I have done with mine (very happy with it as well). Can't imagine what another 50bhp would be like.

No 'naming and shameing', as per the site rules, as a guess?
Yup. Apologies e30, but rules is rules. You should have an e-mail from us somewhere explaining that (gets sent when a post is deleted)

And yet I'd still rather have a Subaru Cosworth (despite being a lot more expensive).

Because it is exactly the opposite with RWD you can use the power to steer the car..I'm not saying that a powerful FWD isn't fun but too much power is a waste
True, but for a lot of us, thats what we have to work with until we go RWD again, might as well enjoy it, I would imagine that a 400 bhp FWD Focus is a damn site more fun however than a good percentage of RWD cars, ok not as pure but 400 bhp must be a giggle !

Good ole BBR. Still getting the punters to part with their hard earned. Good luck to them. Just make sure you have "before" tune and "after" tune figures. smile

I have the SCC 385 kit on mine and provided you don't ask too much of it in 1st and 2nd, the traction thereafter is not a problem (in the dry) beyond this and I'm sure it's a step too far...

Exactly what I was going to say when I read that... Personally I like to be able to steer the car if I choose to break traction in it... keep your foot in, in an FWD with that type of power whilst cornering and you'll be understeering off into the nearest hedge, lampost roadside object etc... so yea, not really comparable to the rear wheels breaking traction... although probably fun in a straight line!

Without getting into a FWD bashing discussion, there is also the laws of physics where, on accelerating , load is transferred towards the rear of the car which promotes grip in a RWD car and tends to lose grip on a FWD car.

Forgetting all other issues, it still bugs me that power will be limited in the lower gears on the RS's so it can get off the line.

Insane. Totally ridiculous theres nothing wrong with the standard car, apart from its a bit slower round corners than my 200 BHP Clio Cup........
