Crikey, 3 errors?

Chris, i think you should go outside and thrash yourself with a large spikey branch whilst chanting "I must try harder" over and over again...

Good effort. Nioce to see the Germans playing catch-up with the brits for once:

225.675mph. Official. Not guess work or theory.

The XFR "...had been modified with the appropriate safety gear (roll cage, fire suppression system, etc.), along with a sizable low-mounted rear spoiler and a derestricted ECU that allowed the supercharger to yield around 600 horsepower thanks to a bit more boost...

....Incredibly, the Bonneville run was completed on stock Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires, and the Rocketsports-prepared XFR was still registering a bit of wheelspin at that speed...."

In fact, I still think its Coventry 1, Munich 0

And there is the requisite "Britain is still relevant!" post...
Oooh get her!

The world's fastest estate (225mph MG/So-Cal ZT-T) was sold for £27k a couple of years ago. Quite a bargain even if it was 2nd hand with no warranty! Not sure if anyone has decided to build a faster estate yet?

Don't assume all saloons are "bricks, though.

An Audi R8 V10 has a Cd of 0.37, while the S8 V10 has a Cd of 0.28....! Even with a 15% larger frontal area, the S8 has a 15% lower total drag than the R8!

I'm guessing that at these crazy speeds, reducing lift would be the hardest part of the aerodynamics.
Damn good point, but still surprising!

I shall now assume that my Marina has a Cd of 0.17 until I can prove otherwise in a wind tunnel tongue out

You really can't have too many 800bhp 4 door saloons that'll crack 230 mph and cost around half a million....

Interesting to note that apart from some possible underbody aerodynamic work (possibly a diffuser?), the original basic shape seems to have been retained?

Cd is "coefficient of drag" - a numerical factor that indicates how rough, smooth, lumpy or bumpy the surface of the car is. To calculate drag, you multiply Cd by the frontal area to get CdA - this is the number that tells you how hard it is to push the car through the air.

The inner workings of the 10-cylinder, four-valve engine feature Mahle high-performance forged pistons for lower compression and increased mechanical strength.

Thats interesting, 0.4 valves per cylinder!

i reckon if you did that conversion yourself you would pay less than 20k to get 800 hp

for 200k there are plenty of other cars i would prefer

but its quite an achievement !

Great piece of kit, it makes me smile.
I'd say never personally... which is a great shame
Yes a great shame- I think there really would be a market for a veyron bashing saloon in BMWs lineup at that price.

However it would probably cost twice that once u'd tuned it to be reliable and trackable...

wow. Tuner takes car they couldn't make. Modifys it with parts with no 3yr/60K waranty and then goes very fast.

In the same way i don't consider 9ff or even Brabus a "manufacturer" I don't give a rats arse about ANY of these little german tuners. So far as I'm concerned all these "fastest 4 door" "fastest convertible" records are st unless its a STANDARD production car. i.e. Unless it's a car I can buy from a manufacturer supported dealer. With a warranty.

Funny how you don't get other nationalities other than the Germans doing this. And lets be real. The Japs have been tuning and getting mental power from their cars for decades. You never seem to hear about a heavily modified GTR claiming it's the "fastest 2 door coupe" do you.

Breathe out wink

They won't. It will always fall to 'specialists' who are not confined by commercial politics and reputational risk in making such a dangerous missile.

Stolen from Dapsters post;

800bhp, and almost double the Hurricane RRs torque. Not sure about the rear wheel covers though.

I doubt they could get it to go faster than the Veyron SS.
