Copied thios from another forum..... I dont care what the drivers were up to, someone taking the law into their own hands is totally unacceptable...

I suspect there may be more to the story than meets the eye, but still very very scary!

[quote]

If there is anybody here that was at Royal Albert way on saturday night you'll probably know or have an idea what happened.
I got there as the road was closed but a couple of people I know were there as it happened and were putting the fire out and trying to help the injured people.

That was a saph cosworth
This is what happens when you street race, apparently he hit the wall, climbed the wall then slammed back into the road at 80mph

To add to this somebody, obviously somebody who doesn't like street racing, took matters into their own hands when they did this

Yes self tapping screws glued to the roads. This is ultimately what caused this horrific crash, the chap had pulled up at the curb side and one of these lodged in his tire, apparently they are hollow screws to let the tyre down like a stinger.
As he drove off it blew his tire out causing the crash
My mates helped tend to the guys but apparently one guy was DOA, one they helped had a broken pelvis and punctured lung and I've heard one got paralyzed from the neck down.

Take care next time you go to something like this.

..are you sure they weren't placed to stop someone parking? Or do the "street racers" gather there regularly?

Obviously you can't condone someone putting these down in that way. But it could just as easily have been a screw picked up legitamtly or a blow out.

Go tearing around suburban streets an Accident will hurt. Meant with no ill feeling towards the dead and injured, but those are the risks that they took

So he knew there was a screw in his tyre as he pulled to the side of the road with it in and then went off like a bat out of hell and crashed?

Is that not accident as I would never drive at speed if I knew any foreign object was embedded in my tyre.

I don't understand.
He pulled up to the roadside where someone had glued one of these and it got lodged in his tyre, letting it down immediately.
Then he drove off and crashed.

A Sapph Cossie is fast but not so fast that it would do that sort of damage accelerating from a standstill with a flat tyre ?

Yes, next time I'm illegal street racing, I'll be on the look out.

someone somewhere is hastily disposing of their plaster board raw plugs (tis what they are) and their epoxy, bet they never expected a murder charge to come of it.

Somebody used their ingenuity there. I imagine there is not a lot of traffic on that road at night, but wonder if other innocent traffic could have been caught up here. Can we have a photo of the plasterboard fixing next to a tin of custard OP, or did you forget to take it to the incident?

You seem to know a lot about this.
A little too much perhaps...

If you knew you had a punctured tyre, why would you go "racing off" after pulling over to have a look at it?

There will be lots of CCTV around there so if that screw was placed in the road the culprit will likely be traced imo.

What?

"Did he drive off knowing there was a screw in his tyre?"

No, of course he didnt, what a retarded assumption

Street racing or not, its still a tragic thing to happen

The way I read it was that the car had 'picked it up' when he'd stopped for a moment, and let the air out after he'd driven off without noticing it, rather than him stopping because he'd noticed it and carrying on regardless

I can't see any reporting of this incident on any news websites. Can anyone else?

It said the accident happened while he was doing about 80mph, would you travel at 80 with something like that sticking out of your tyre? I wouldn't.

This won't work in the future, when TPS is mandatory.

Telephone Preference Service? You think he drove off in a huff because he'd just been cold-called?

Interesting theory. scratchchin
