I love these kind of interiors with the leather and picnic tables, brings back fond memories as a youngster spent in the back of my dad's Humber Imperial.

Love these, my Dad owns a low mileage one that is mint and despite what the doubters say has been nothing but 100% reliable, no rust or dodgy electrics. Gets people asking if they can buy it almost everytime he takes it out.

And even though it is an old car, it still has that 'something special' feeling about wafting along in it.

Great SOTW!

Wow!! This really is a good one!

I know what you mean; it is a very British approach to the interior which has died out now and the Humber Imperial has the same accent on luxury as the end goal above functionality. You don't get real fur rugs in an Audi!

Both the Humber and the Daimler also have a substantial hand made element to their production. Finish isn't micron perfect, but their "feel" cannot be reproduced with the modern less labour centred processes used by other cars. I'm not sure most buyers value this though, anymore.

Though the latest XJ is lovely inside, it is more European in approach, than old-school Brit.

The car is listed on ebay as well, finishes at 22:57 on Sunday. £571 so far, may well go for more than advertised, as is the way of auctions. Hope it's not a 'timewaster' who wins it:

Tempted to bid myself.

If you want a cheap big engined luxobarge that's also very reliable -than it has to be a Lexus LS400-(although not as much character as the Jag)

Seven hundred quid and you worry about it being a money pit, buy it, run it and if it breask scarp it, the banger boys would love it, which would be a shame, it just depends whether you want to sink several grand into an old woofer, its only a money pit if you let it become one, otherwise you risk seven hundred quid minus what you get for it if it breaks. bit of rust, pah, remeber withnail and I ?

As for 22 mpg, my bloody Saab 9-3 only does that and it doesnt have a full on waft mode

Top shedding I would say.
smash Here Here! I totally agree, buy it, drive it and then dump it if, anything goes wrong.

It did indeed! The chap spoke to me when the car was listed, expressing his interest, and he genuinely sounded like he wanted the car.

He has paid a £100 deposit into my PayPal, and will be collecting her next week. So I doubt that he is a timewaster.

Originally, the car sold on eBay to an Italian chap. He changed his mind after realising the car doesn't have air con - something which he could have easily checked with me before bidding!

Anyway - thanks to all for the comments. I'm sure the new buyer will be happy with the purchase!

Amrit.
