Having an bit of an issue with the DVLA at the moment and it turns out from the other thread I'm running in the Speed, Plod and Law forum that prety much everyone else has had an issue with the DVLA in the past at some stage.

So I have come up with a really nice way to getting some retribution. If everyone of us gets together and does this it'll be fantastic. The DVLA has as we all know an inefficent postal system so I was thinking of sending them a nondemoninational seasonal greetins card by special (signed for) delivery. The reason it has to be special delivery is we can 1/ pick the time 09:00, 12:00 or 14:00 (I think) 2/ request the letter be signed for individuallyand not in bulk. So by sending a whole bunch of cards on mass to all arrive the same day; say Monday 20th December for example it would tie up the DVLA admin' office all day.

A Special delivery of a card would work out about 90p plus the card itself.

So anyone who has had to pay a £40 fine for not declaring a car SORN they scrapped two years previously dispite writing letters and arguing with a faceless Guilty until proven innocent and even if you can prove you're innocent we're above the law and'll fine you anyway DVLA-la-la-la I'm not listening faceless robot this is our chance (duty) to stick it to them.

Please do not break the law in doing this. Don't wipe your bum on the card or write something obsene. Just a nice friendly seasonal greeting to jam their postal system. wink

If you substitute 'non denominational greetings card' for 'a crusty turd wrapped in a fine mesh of semen stained pubic hair', then I think you're on to a winner.

Special Delivery for 90p ?

You mean Recorded Delivery right ?

And how do you request for it to be signed individually ?

And why do you want to slow down their already inefficient mail handling system ?

So in turn you will be possibly creating the same situation for other people that has happened to you by creating extra workload for the DVLA? Sorry but that just sounds like selfish idiotic nonsense on your part.

Now I hate the DVLA more than most; they stole a perfectly legal taxed and insured XJS from me, and crushed it, while I was out of the country. I'm not convinced that overloading their already fked postal system is the way forward though.

Did they compensate you for this ?

yikes

I must say I have had my gripes with them in the past. The whole organisation seems to be stuck in the dark ages. Why in god's name do we still have to deal with them by post?

Yes as special delivery is much much more. Dunno what's "special" about it apart from the fact that Royal fking Fail can't get it there on time like all the other packets/letters that we use these useless s for. & don't get me started on their useless ing website.

Tongue was quite firmly in the cheek with this but now you meantion it. Maybe as a working example to show just how inefficient the DVLA postage system is.

The DVLA made £10,000,000 in SORN fines last year because of people being found guilty until proven innocent. It's high time they learned that the British public aren't a bunch of patsies and can give as good as we get. How many peole have paid the £40/£80 because it saved the hastle of appealing or making a complaint about it? How many people have had letters from bailiffs while the DVLA were still "investigating" the alleged offence that isn't "alleged" at all because the DVLA see fit to be judge jury and executioner.

Suggesting that it would stop people from using the system for DVLA related stuff is why I've posted this now to give everyone fair warning. wink

I'm confused, are you saying it's possible that this could make their service worse? I can't get my head around that, surely this would only slow down their ability to screw things up?

Ouch! What's the story here??

Oh, back on topic, st idea. Who will really be inconvenienced? The customers. The employees will get paid as normal but delays will be bigger.

No compensation. Got back from 6 weeks working in the US to discover it gone. Reported to the police only to be told that the DVLA had it. Phoned them and it was already crushed. Initially they claimed it wasn't taxed, until I pointed out that I had taxed it online and had all of the relevant documentation and receipt. The story then changed to 'wasn't displaying a tax disc' which is, obviously, impossible to disprove. Although technically not an offence your car should get towed for. After a few months of letters and even threatening them via a solicitor I decided it wasn't worth the hassle or cost and I wasn't going to win anyway.

Personally I think their subcontracted dodgy towing people saw an old jag that hadn't moved for a few weeks and thought 'we'll have that'. The DVLA then back them all the way.

J'espère que vous n'avez pas l'esprit de l'orthographe en anglais, nous ne sommes pas tenus de payer les organismes gouvernementaux en Euros pour le moment.

Count me in.

I am also for us all (as in the whole population) maxing out all our credit and then just not paying it back.

What would happen if everyone did that. They can't arrest us all.
