Don't get your panties all in a bunch princess.

It is pretty stupid though, I'd imagine that PH members who don't know about the quite unique engine in an RX-8 are very much in the minority.

From kids passing. "thats a really cool car", "would be better if it was a ferrari", "what is it?".

I was a little confused by this. They think my car is cool but would look better with differnt badges?

Don't quite see how £30K of used Aston is a waste confused
Perhaps I should've explained the context....

She preaches at me that I should be happy with a simple a-b transport type heap.. Then on the drive they have:

1964 230sl pagoda
1984 280ce
1997 db7 volante
2001 s type v6
2006 shogun sport

Yet my £900 Mondeo or £4k Saab is a waste?
Aye, makes sense with context.

However, given the respective lists of cars owned, I'd say your mum's more PH than you.

Was washing my new (to me) car today.
I got my first "i bet that drinks alot" comment from a neighbour.
Instantly thought of this thread.
Well everything is relative. If it is the S Type R, it probably does drink a fair bit. The fact it doesn't bother you is by the by surely?
The comment didnt worry me, it was more the fact the conversation went "hello, i bet that drinks alot" as opposed to "hello, i like your new car, are you please with it?" or "is it petrol of diesel?"
I've found anything with a jaguar badge gets that comment, myths in motoring seem to last longer than old chewing gum. Even my neighbours old diesel X-type got it ffs. I had a 3L v6 S-type and got it a lot. Usually from people in 2L diesel MPVs at work. I usually responded that it wasn't bad getting about 400 miles out of a tank on a good day which they then conceded wasn't bad and about the same as their car. I didn't tell them filling a tank probably cost bit more than theirs smile

Heard many a time (mainly chapettes) - "oh, is the MOT different from servicing then?" Oil like molasses.
.
Yeah but it's Hodna and they don't need servicing. Hodna engines never go wrong. Been on Top Gear and everything.

Hands up all those who think I made that up? Hmmm... that many... frown

nono

She likes shiny things.

Father is the weird car collector. Now has the money to re-live his PH days from the 70s and 80s.

Shogun sport is hers, and DB7 was bought for her. The rest are fathers, including the newly departed xk8.

My PH-worthyness is currently limited by budget to:

1971 Austin 1300 MKII
1971 Morris Minor 1000 2door
2002 Ford Mondeo 1.8 LX (Snotter)
2006 SAAB 9-3 TID Vector Sport

So, I'm trying........... But yeah, beaten by my mothers collection frown

They do actually get listed as a 2.6 fairly often so I can see how someone would make this mistake.

I think this is something to do with it being raced and getting counted as double the displacement for comparison purposes?

Some insurance companies would list them as such too, even if they didn't categorise cars by displacement.

No. That woman is very lucky not to have killed someone.
Should have her car impounded and license revoked immediately!

I've heard it was possible but I've never actually seen it before.

I hope the garage told her just how dangerous they were.

Horrific.
