Although you did when it used to be an engine, though it is just a trim level these days.

A friend of mine constantly refers to his "Focus Titanium". As if he believes it's made of the stuff or something.

My point being people can't tell marketing bks from reality. It is a trim level and the general rule of thumb when telling people about cars is engine size only for all other marks except Audi and BMW it seems know a days.

yes

Or "snotter" if Mondy

The Saab is referred to as... The Saab.

Not:

Saab 9-3 vector sport TID 150bhp 16v
I've said it before and I'll say it again - why does anyone refer to the trim level when telling others about their car? I refer to mine as the Triumph, or the Passat, or if I'm feeling cultural, the "gutzi".

And as with you NotDave, Volkswagen Passat SE TDI PD 130 becomes a bit of a mouthful!

I've always just referred to my cars as "the car". I've never been one to get tied up in specific model names, even when the Punto-driving tt I was sat beside at a wedding a few years ago laughed at me for owning a Clio, I couldn't be arsed telling him it was a 197 and not a boggo 1.2.

I say a seat leon ecomotive if I'm asked by someone who knows a bit about cars, because they know the engine size and extended gear ratios.

Anyone else it's just a seat leon.

I just talk about the "old one" and the "newer one". Even trying to differentiate to some of my friends by calling them "Alpina" and "BMW" doesn't work on the very rare occasion the subject of cars comes up with them

Likewise; "the yellow one" and "the white one".

Id have no idea about the engine size or the gear ratios. Id guess its a weedy diesel with very tall gearing and really hard tyres. And id likely be correct.

I reject this! My Audi S6 is also refered to as "the 6". It was very simple until 10 secnds ago, when i read your post, now i'm unsure whether i may infact own a BMW confused

For this reason i feel from now on all owners should refer to their cars not only by make, model, engine size and trim level. But by also stating the colour and full options list to avoid further mixups! smile

Many thanks beer

I refer to my car as "The Widowmaker" because it's so fking cool.
It's been said by people that this makes me sound exactly like Mad Max.

"Yeah, I was coming off Hangar Lane roundabout and some tool was trying to get into my lane ahead of me, the . So I dropped a cog and slammed the loud pedal to the floor. The back end got a bit squirrelly cos of the prodigious torque I was putting through the Proxies but I crowded him out. bh. Yeah, The Widowmaker can be a bit of a handful even in the dry".

Better than saying Fabia 1.4 innit?

Depends on whom you are talking to .

A chap I worked with said he was picking up his 360 at the weekend . I asked if was going to be a red one . He was talking about a games console smile

A few years ago a bloke in the pub was banging on about his gti . To me the only car that I would refer to would be a vw . He was talking about his escort .
