Fundamentally, someone paying through the nose for pure nitrogen in their tyres without understanding why, or even if it makes a difference, they're a dick.
Come again?

N2 costs bugger all, big bottles are something like £30 a pop, and you can fill a st load of tyres with one bottle.

An yes, it does make a difference.
show me something that informs me that it makes a tangible difference in a road car.

If the theory that less of it was to escape than pure air stood up, then surely after filling tyres with air over several years, it would become more "concentrated" towards pure nitrogen?..

Or, it's complete bullst and doesn't matter outside of F1 and that last hundredth of a second a lap.

Co-worker just told me our boss has got a new BMW M3. I got a bit excited thinking he might let me have a quick drive. (He had a Carrera 4S previously that he let me drive on a couple of occasions.)

I wandered into the car park to have a nose around it only to discover its a 520d Msport Touring and felt a mild sense of disappointment.

Co-worker isnt a petrol head (hence posting in this thread) but still, I don't know how you see the 520d badge on the back and then decide it must me an M3.

Not sure this is the right place but just been looking at car polishers and found this review of Halfords 12v Polisher

Review 7 for Halfords 12 Volt Car Polisher
Overall Rating
Useless Product,April 18, 2012
By Suzi8 from Midlands, England
Quality
Value
Performance
Car Make Vauxhall
"I didn't realise this buffer ran on my car battery. It started out with a bit of power, but then slowed down and became totally bumpy in its movements. Also, when I went to turn on my car after testing this polisher, it almost didn't start! The polish liquid I bought with this device wasn't good either. Using this buffer made my car look worse and the fact that it didn't have a regular power cord made it pretty much useless. I returned it."

From a Carrera 4S to a 520d is a fair change. Maybe he can`t be arsed with performance any more or the financial penalties attached to a sports vehicle. It`s probably a decent enough looking car. Shame it has the engine from a canal boat.

Colleague explaining to another that her car is wobbling at certain speeds... possible tracking/balancing needs doing

colleague 1: "when did you last do the tracking"
colleague 2: "it was serviced last November"
colleague 1: "well try doing the tracking/balancing then"
colleague 2: "oh well it's almost November so i'll do it then"

no idea, but i'd say it is definitely bullst that it makes any difference on a road car. It's amazing what humans can kid themselves is better, providing it costs more. I've got a compressor that runs off the car's 12V socket.

As seen on another forum - an Alfa fanboy on the GT 3.2. OK it's nippy but this guy's delusional:

Also beware. the car will go far faster than you can drive it. They are seriously fast and only get into their stride above 3500 to 4000 revs when things can get very hairy. On the public road there is a high risk that you will

a) crash it like Ronaldo did with his Ferrari.
b) Lose your licence as the temptation to use the power is sometimes too great.

I think you are also incorrect to assume the Diesel 1.9 GT is slow. Its not slow at all, its just not as fast as a 3.2 which is very very very fast

Aren't they like 6.5s to 60?

I have that engine (mines a smidgen more powerful) and whilst it's quick (& sounds brilliant) it's not 'very very very fast'.

Just the right amount IMO, great for overtaking and fun when pushing on driving

6.7s to 62 according to wiki; 240 PS in a car just shy of 1.5 tons. I'm sure that ~165 bhp/ton is terrifyingly hard to tame... hehe
