From a veg chomping friend and full paid up member of the Green Party ( hurt finger typing that) she said to me in the Porsche "I like the open air (top down) but don't go too fast" I know, I, know ...hot but not

A workmate today-

'The 2 series doesn't look like a proper BMW at all. And it's ugly'

That statement alone would be fair enough. Given the person that said this just bought a brand new X1 is somewhat perplexing though.

'If you want to exceed 70MPH, you should do it on a racetrack. Why do it on the M40?'

Because there aren't any racetracks connecting Warwick and Beaconsfield, racetracks go round in circles and are therefore no use to me in getting to an urgent appointment. I don't drive at 71MPH simply because I want to see what my speedometer looks like at that speed.

Any print outs that have been laminated instantly become fact.

Actually, 80bhp from a map is probably possible. For example the Revo stage 1 map for the Golf Ed30 takes it from 230bhp to 305bhp.

For the above.

Remap may be possible depending on car and engine.
I have a print out of a remap done at a place I wish to remap my own car.
They took a standard 2.7 tdv6 disco 3 from 188 to 240bhp and torque from 325 to 412 lbft.
That's a 52 bhp increase so 80 may be doable. However, engine and car dependant.

However, the speed claims are beyond bullst. hehe

Perhaps the 2.8 turbo, I'm guess he's got the small diesel though.

Adding that much power to an MPS without supporting mods will result in it being able to hit that speed (downhill with the wind behind it and without the ridiculous camber of an MPS which drives around Andover) once before the block turns into a big bag of lego

That engine is pretty much detuned from the factory though. It's more like a 40hp increase over what it should have been in the first place.
A bit like the regular C63 going from 450 to 520 with just a remap. That's a hell of a lot for an NA engine but it's intentionally held back in standard form.

Normally 20% is considered good.

I guess the gains are so huge on the Edition 35 because of the bigger turbo. That's more a case of it being mapped quite conservatively from factory, no?

There's a similarly eye opening figure for the Mk7 GTi although that's got a lot to do with it being under rated from factory.
