I've just been alerted that I'm being made fun of on this thread - but the bad reaction serves you right for posting about me on it!!!
The point is, I won't be affecting the BHP/ton because I'm LIGHTNING it not making it heavier, but with the lighter panels I was wondering what the net BHP will increase to.
I'm calling wind up, no one's that stupid. The point is, I won't be affecting the BHP/ton because I'm LIGHTNING it not making it heavier, but with the lighter panels I was wondering what the net BHP will increase to.

On the note of that picture and slightly off topicpeople who say 'knowing my luck'.
Like everyone in life, you suffer from mild/moderate adversity from time to time. You are not continually starving, drowning or on fire.
Your luck is fine.
(Some people do have a valid claim to say that - 95% don't)

I think you have misunderstood what BHP/ton means.
Your BHP figure remains static but if you reduce the mass of your car the BHP to ton of weight ratio will increase.
That's your BHP/ton.
Your BHP is affected by altering the power output of your engine.
So lets say you have a car that weighs 2 tons and has 500bhp. its bhp/ton is 250. Literally 500 / 2.
Then you strip 1 ton of weight out of it, possibly by putting the back seats down.
It still has 500bhp but weighs 1 ton.
So your BHP/ton is now 500.
Hows that?

I think he's trying to ask what sort of increase in power lightening the car would equate to. I know that's not the conventional way if looking at it, but I feel like that's what he would like to know.
But bhp and weight have no direct relationship. He might was well ask how much lighter his car will be if he increases power. The Mrs (sadly) the other day, upon arriving at my house in her Tigra with the roof down she complained that whilst driving over her hair kept blowing in her face on the motorway, I said she was probably driving too fast (which she was).
I also asked where her wind deflector panel was on the car that was located behind the headrests, and she replied "oh I took it off because I didn't like the way it looked", followed by "I don't get it, what's the point in having convertibles if my hair keeps blowing in my face whilst I'm on the motorway?? Pointless!"

Tigra? Dump her
I've recently bought a SAAB 95. Apparently, people now seem to think I'm "posh" and "obviously being paid too much".
It's a 16 year old car bought for shed money ffs. Just one that's been cared for and washed occasionally, unlike the myriad of dirty, dented finance special Fiesta's Corsa's and various Kia's that litter my works car park.
I haven't the heart to tell them that the entire car costs about the same as four of their monthly finance payments.

BTW you've bought a 9-5 not a 95 which is a V4 engined estate from the 1970s or a 2 stroke engined estate from
the 1960s.
HTH.
Thanks for your expert knowledge.I would have NEVER been able to tell the two apart. So I guess that means I can't rev the tits off of it while left-foot braking and executing a Scandy flick - Stig Blomqvist style - through a forest? the 1960s.
