Can you do the above in a Range Rover? X5? Q7?
Or am I doomed to buy an XC90?
Don't want anything as big as a Disco and only looking to spend £15k-£20k.

pretty sure RR fits 3 in a row David, did you get my vmax mail btw matey>?
You mean the first one? I replied to that, haven't received anything since then.Discos are just offensively big IMO. 2.7 tonnes and they must be a 'mare to park.
Q7 is a dainty supermini in comparison. Barely any longer than my Allroad.
But it's not how big on the outside, it's how wide (and flat) the rear seats are.
Will be taking part in school runs soon and nobody's going to help out picking our kids up if we can't reciprocate.
Don't want an MPV, good as the S-Max is. Want to retain 4x4 for snow and floods we occasionally get out here.

Seen that, but I want the space to put 2 child seats with either an adult in between or another child seat.Godzilla said:

Have you ever driven a Discovery? I seriously wouldn't write them off just yet. I'm 20 years old manage to park my parent's Discovery 3s when I use them without any problems.
The Discovery seems to hide its size well from inside, it's probably lighter and more airy place to be than the Q7 too, google results (including even a thread on errrr Mumsnet) confirm that 3 will fit in the back
ETA: Forgot to add, is the Discovery 4 Bigger than a Range Rover?!

We have a Chevrolet Captiva which is a great family bus and has a third row of seats for when we take the outlaws out with us. (we only have two kids)
I wouldnt want to use them on a regular basis because they take up the boot and I wouldnt feel happy if someone rear ended us.
IMO a Disco with a third row is one of the best (and safer) options.
What about a people carrier, some of them can get 3 car seats on a row. The Picasso we had could do this (but it was a tight fit)
