I love those big old Volvos.
Other candidate is Lotus Esprit. Originally designed at the same time as the Stevenson's Rocket it laboured on for near on a century.
So that explains why Esprits were frequently seen emitting smoke and steam.Other candidate is Lotus Esprit. Originally designed at the same time as the Stevenson's Rocket it laboured on for near on a century.

Just remembered the Jeep Wagoneer, made from 1963-1991.
Some how manages to look even more ancient than a Land Rover despite being postively youthful in comparison.
Because a Landrover has no styling or decoration whatsoever. Some how manages to look even more ancient than a Land Rover despite being postively youthful in comparison.
It's a tool; I've got a really old spade and that's not dated either.

The year is 1998 and you're visiting the local Ford garage only to find out that they've only gone and replaced the wonderful Ford Escort with something called the "Focus".
Luckily it was still possible to buy one of these beautys instead of the newfangled Focus until 2000.
There is not a single feature on the escort I would take over a focus! The escort bore no resemblance to the mk1,2 and 3 models that so many people loved, and had f-all in common with later cosworth models! Changing to the focus was one of the best bits of marketing ford ever did because it moved away from the pile of crap that the escort becameLuckily it was still possible to buy one of these beautys instead of the newfangled Focus until 2000.
Reliant Robin 1973-2002 (with a bit of Reliant Rialto inbetween). Counting the Robin/Rialto as the same car with updates it went from the original (round headlights), Rialto (black grille with lights in it), Robin Mk2 (Fiesta Mk2 lights) and the final fling with Mk1 Corsa lights. (Not posted pictures as I'm on the iPhone)
come on guys! keep up at the back....a few of you havn't been here long have you

Mini 1959 - 2000!
No space, no performance, no comfort, no suspension damping, no safety, loads of rust straight from the factory Yes it looks cute, but as a car - utter rubbish.
I have to take issue with **some** of your claims there. No space, no performance, no comfort, no suspension damping, no safety, loads of rust straight from the factory Yes it looks cute, but as a car - utter rubbish.
Space: You could get 4 people inside WITH legroom. Not exactly in luxurious style but definitely do-able. Compare to the Fiat500 where you need to bend double if you're an adult sitting in the back, then the mini was a masterpiece of packaging.
Performance: By today's standards, dreadful. By the standards of most of the cars around me when I started driving in 1986, it was at least as good. My 2nd one, a 1400, was bloody fantastic, albeit not exactly standard (in any way). It had the measure of my rich friend's Golf Gti.
Suspension damping: Actually it **did** have dampers but the springs were rubber cones so movement was limited.
Safety: Well, yes. I expect if hit by anything modern it would fold up like an envelope.
Rust: They were dreadful in that regard. I bought 3 and sold 1. The other 2 had to be scrapped because of tinworm.
