Ok it's a kit car....but arguably looks as good, and I think you could get one assembled for a lot less than 50k

A lovely idea, but how is something with that level of mechanicals on the outside ever going to get Type Approval or SVA?
MSVA for trikes, I think, not SVA

I'd love one of these, if I had the money that a collector has.

Why don't they just buy 10 of them off the American company and then sell them on as special editions! Not going to sell that many at that price anyway and seems like a lot of effort to go to building their own. This isn't Morgan's future, so why waste time developing it?
I think the day the order book opens they will sell the lot! Morgans have a huge following and collectors will snap them up!

have a look at http://www.11tinkers.com/BB_February_2.html - I got a Brooklands through SVA so it is perfectly possible given enough consideration to the rules.

Wouldn't even consider buying it until I turn older I guess...
How old will you need to be?

I still reckon I'll never be old enough to own a Mercedes....
I'm not sure - close to 50 perhaps. Maybe even older.
Can picture myself in a Caterham at present but not that thing.

So, frame/body in production in USA, replica JAP engines available in U.K. for bikes (?) so HEEBY JEEBIES there must be enough profit in a few of these to bail out the Bank of England........!

Good effort (and four attempts...!)! There looks to be even more dodgy radii on the Morgan though...

Fabulous, and I'm sure the quality will be superb, but how on earth did they arrive at that price ?!
Prabably through a desire to make a profit? Just a guess as their website shows no sign of them being a registered charity. biggrin

Morgan have to make a profit.

The US company that own the rights will be making a turn.

The supplier of the engine will also be making a profit.

And finally, I guess the chappies who will be bolting it together will want paying more than the minimum wage as will the chaps selling it and the bird who does the paperwork.

There's the cost of tooling and space and materials and utilities to factor in somewhere along the line.

I also suspect that the UK Govt will want to charge tax on as many areas as possible.

To be honest, I'm surprised it is that cheap.

But it is interesting that they have priced this one up prior to offering it for sale. I guess they had to as it already exists in the US with a price tag. Normally they wait to see how many people dive in and demand to place a deposit before calculating how much margin to apply to the base cost. I suspect that latest car of theirs has just had a very chunky margin applied due to the number of people diving in with deposits. It's kind of like telling a bookie which way you are going before you ask him for the odds. wink

There are plenty of folks who will pay good money for quality, in this age of crap.
Looking at the pictures, I just want to get in and drive it!
I bet it's a hoon. As that American TV host with the huge garage (Can't remember his name) said about driving his original Morgan three wheeler, he didt realize he could have so much fun at 30mph!

30mph, he really should open it up! The original 3-wheelers absoltuley fly!

They're still raced with the VMCC (vintage motorcyle club). Granted they're allowed to run on alcohol, but I've seen them obliterate more modern kneeler outfits from the 1970's!

With geriatric vehicles the biggest problem on the road today is generally not the "going" but the "stopping". It's easy to forget how stunningly good the tyres and brakes on a modern car are.
