Great read! Not a huge fan of the car, but can see the appeal smile

This had never really featured on my radar until the (rather wet) Singapore GP Quali session, due to the rain the TV people followed the safety car a few time and the noise.... oh god the noise...
Still not sure I'd spend my 200k on one but did I mention the noise?

I did take a couple of short videos of the noise in-car. I'll have to get them sorted tonight...

Thanks again all.

Gutted to find that the in-car videos i took are, in fact, utter crap.

Bugger.

What were you filming them on?

Using the HD video function on my little Sony compact camera. Usually gives good results, but I used a Gorillapod to attach it to the seat back, which wasn't sturdy enough. Visually it's just a blur.

And to get the noise effect, I dropped the window, so unfortunately the only noise you hear is wind buffeting.

Quite handy at still shots, but cameraman i am obviously not... hehe

I have a feeling i will be having the SLS again this year though, it's got me hooked and I want another go!

£30 will get you a decent windscreen mount - well worth the investment. I find that the compact cameras are better than video cameras when mounted as they do not rattle about on the mount as you are going over the bumps. I took a few hours footage in a 911 Turbo a few months ago and had to hang my Sanyo Xacti upside down as it is a pistol grip style camera. Now I have to rotate the images - reasonably time consuming.

Great write up but I have to say that the car leaves me cold.

I didn't like the styling when the first shots were released - that hasn't changed. I cannot get beyond the fact that the rear half of the car looks like a Lexus SC430.
