a few weeks ago I was at a Porsche dealer and they had a beautifull 964 porsche 911 with original turbo body but no big spoiler and with the NA 3.6, I was thinking to myself how lovely that car would be with a NA 3.8 GT3 engine in the back...420<>450hp NA in a beatifull body and ad a ducktail engine-hood.

I still think the rear wheels look too far inboard from some angles.

Lovely. But now the normal Carrera is pointless. Or is it this new badge is pointless. Either way just merge the two parallel models lines.

Film gets up my nose "We [here at Porsche TV] were very luck to speak to [a chap who works for us] about [our new car]".

Nice car. Yes I would like one. Prefer to drive Woofs though.

It's my 930 Turbo circa 1987, Ruf front end spoiler and Veloce GT wheels.

That looks stunning. yes
Thanks chaps - I love it. Proper car, you have to take control of it or it will bite !
The modern cars are simply too easy to drive - which is fine but I feel there should be a rawer stripped down version (the GT3 RS is far too expensive) that takes you back to the old school.

Mine might be for sale, but i really don't want to part with it !

Being a bit of a quirky 911 and naming it the GTS, I would have so expected them to put a rear reflector like the 928 GTS.

They also recently did it on the facelift 997 C4S(as did with the 996 C4S) but why not this new 997 GTS?? confused

there's nothing in the spec (other than the badge on the back) that couldn't have been ordered from the factory before this was announced
True, but if you have the money porsche will make you what you want so that's a moot point surely? If you had approached porsche with an order for a wide bodied C2S with centre lock wheels and powerkit they would have charged you a hell of a lot more than the 77k they are asking the GTS....

I think I like this better than the GT3 / RS as well, must be getting old and reserved.

The old Porsche cars have aged gracefully it must be said.

Generally car manufacturers offer a run out model with "standard" extras this offers a unique package not seen since the 993 C2S and tops that with more power (but without the heart aching beauty)....so as run out models go its pretty good and better than you are suggesting IMVHO.

Ah well that was discussed in anther thread I bought my C2S last August and after 30k I'm wedded to it I'm afraid...But that doesn't stop me from liking the GTS or the GT3 for that matter! wink
