Looks tidy. However as shed rightly points out, no matter how much you squint this model is and always was a complete munters uglier sister.

The Mk1 Golf is a babe. One of Giugiaro's finsest.

An ex-colleague had an almost olive green 3 door hatch. He was T boned in it at a junction. He had his pelvis broken in the shunt. frown I wonder if the rollover bar of the convertible Golf aids side impact resistance?

thank god!!!!!!!!

shed has come back to planet earth... superb shed.. love them but prefer the gti hardtop. i had a 200 hp 2 litre converted 1979 mk1 gti, my favourite ever car i owned, sold it to a little turd who wrecked it and then stripped it.. crying shame

Cool shed. A white, BBR RE1900-converted version of this car was my first open-top motoring experience.

As mentioned above, the interior on this example looks to be in pretty good condition given the mileage.
I still have a BBR (GTi Engineering) RE1900 engine new in a crate waiting for the right mk1 to put it in. Such fun to drive & great value for smiles per mile.

Seems sensibly priced, unlike all the ones I looked at in May this year.

Still really fancy a Sportline or a Rivage.

Looks tidy enough in the pictures. Great SOTW. I don't think you would lose any money if you ran this for a year.
A mate of mine did exactly this. Paid 3 grand for a J plate Rivage, had it for a year and was contemplating making some subtle mods (bbs wheels etc). But then he ended up selling it for 200 quid more than what he paid for it. Jammy git!

Oh dear, his wife went but the Golf stayed. Evidently not married to Paula Hamilton then, she took hers! If only everything in life were as reliable as a Volkswagen scratchchin

It is a pleasant small car. I have no desire to own one, but if I saw it on the road it would make me smile.

Looks good for the money and not a bad time of the year to buy a ragtop if you have a garage to store it in.

Good shed! One of the few convertibles I would (and have) happily be seen in. A mate had one a few years ago which had a 1.8 16v mk2 golf gti engine put into it, gave it the power it needed. Horrible to live with through the winter though. Like he says, it you bought that now and kept it till late spring you'd make a few bob on it.

On a totally separate note whilst reviewing this article, the number plate is exactly the same as the one we spotted (same car) on the evening of Tuesday 13th October driving at excessive speed through a village just outside Andover in Hampshire.

Should anyone know the owner of this vehicle please inform them that they should kindly take care in future for their own safety and that of everyone else.
